I've not played this, but the reviews trash it because it's a kinetic novel. I find that strange. Do people not like kinetic novels?

I’m definitely not trying to trash the game. The developer clearly put a lot of time and effort into it, respect for that. That said, you mentioned yourself that you haven’t played it, and that’s kind of the point. If there are no choices at all, then we’re not really playing. We’re just reading. At that point, the experience feels closer to a PDF than an actual game.
Interactivity is what makes games fun for many of us, and choices, even small ones, give the player a sense of agency. Of course, I totally understand that branching paths are a huge amount of work, especially for a solo developer. So I don’t fault them for making it kinetic, but I can also see why some are disappointed.

honestly? not in these HTML games. ive played some recently that dont have an open world but still i feel like choices through the game is kind of what makes these games more replayable and fun. i see there are a some paths to start. but still even that it seems a bit contradictory and confusing. like calling it sub/dom route when the MC stays sub in both, it is just what the GF does. or the hotwife route somehow becoming a cuckquean route. pretty much the opposite of each other. i havent played but im gonna check out that route since most of these HTML games dont do cuckquean so im hoping it follows through on that.

i agree with you that the game is bad if the dev gives you an illusion of choice and all the choices are the same. then it's trash for sure.

but it also seems you're asking the dev to make a game that you want, instead of searching for one that comes close to your tastes. kinetic novels and cyoa are completely different types of games. it's ok if you hate one type or the other, but it's like complaining why a movie is not horror, but is a comedy. ‍♂

Personally, if the story is hot then i don't really mind kinetic novels as long as they aren't fucking grindfests and let me see the entire thing in a reasonable amount of time. i think one of the reason these realporn games exist is to throw a lot of media at you, but at a controlled pace, since you are the one clicking through. most games are very bad at that.

Yeah, i agree that the game should work as advertised. But imo a pdf isn't really a bad thing. it's all about presentation and how fappable the material is, for me.

But I still have some questions.

- Hot Cuckquean Route
