God, I cant imagine translating for 9 hours
I can't speak to translating, but I find proofing/editing to be a bit cathartic, especially for an AVN I like. I'm in the middle of one right now with such bad English that it's painful to play, and comparing it to a perfect translation it just elevates the game and the experience, so IMO it's worthwhile on both fronts. Probably not for everyone though.

Your brain gets used to it.
Yes, of course, you end up feeling totally sucked out, It takes less time to recover that is true, I can sustanin, about 1 hour of simultanious interpreting, but after that I need a pause of 20 min.
Else I wouldn't keep up with the words.
Transscribing is similar taxing; Translating, I can sustanin more hours without breaks, but after 8 hs I meet my limits, of concentration, everything what goes over this time cost me an big effort.

Yep, definitely does get tiring the more you have to do. And different brains are better at different types of translation, written word VS spoken rarely is someone equally as proficient in both. Despite being a very skilled and avid reader in English my Arabic translation was always better in listening.

Compounding factors also add on too, so for written the medium and text font/color can add to the challenge, where as in spoken the audio quality and background noises are a huge factor.
