VN - Ren'Py - Mythic Desires [v0.2] [Clever name games]

Just finished 0.2.
To start with I only started to play the AVN due to me liking the other game the Dev is doing. My biggest issue is with the way the MC acts for the better part of the beginning. He is a little pussy bitch and cant get over himself. I almost quit about 25 minutes in because it got way annoying and pissed me off. I toughed it out to see the end of 0.2 and I gotta say I am glad I did as it got better with time. I hope 0.3 is better and the MC stops being a little bitch about everything. If he doesn't then this game will be trash but if the end of 0.2 continues then it will end up being a good one.

Very sad to see another great looking game ruined by fake-choices and "technically-not" NTR.

The biggest problem, aside from non-existent choices, is the MC.
He looks like a teenager, but is supposed to be an adult.
He is the most insufferable whiny character I ever played, and I endured Single again for some time. Some choices are presented, but then completely ignored. The game would elevate its rating by simply putting anything else as the main character.

My main positive point would be the LIs. The game has a certain style that I like, the girls all look really good and unique.
That is ruined by lack of choices, forced relationships and again the behaviour of the MC.
One LI is constantly sucking dicks for nurturing, another fucks frequently with another dude. The MC is extremely jealous, even tho she made it clear she only wants to be FwB.
Pretty much every LI gushes over MC immediately, only the MC is any hurdle to instantly fuck every women around him.

Since the 4 main LIs are forced and kinetic, sex scenes are also defaulted. I wont stay to find out which kinks the dev prefers. All in all a lazy and crappy excuse fora VN. Should've written a book.

I don't think there is much hopefor improv3m3nts. The storyevolves around the LIs, so maing relationships based on choicesseems very unlikely. A start would be to give playersagency over the MC. If you're nit into the FwB cuck story, a simple go fuck yourself would've been enough. Instead we get a fake choices that is r3versed one sent3ncelater. The constant whining could be removed complet3ly. Some teasing and real reasons to hesitate would suffice to make for decent character development. I personally find Seraphina disgusting, but could live with one skip-character. It is early in development, but I highly doubt there will be meaningful changes.

Everything I hate about Single Again ramped up by 100. Endless whining by the MC. Along with all the mental masturbation of should I or shouldn't I.

If you got tired of the MC of that game and shouted " just stop milking it" then you can just skip this game...

Okay, I played it and have to say that all the choices are fake. For example, the scene with Hedi: you have the choice to forgive her or to need more time. I chose the second option, needing more time. Then she wants to change contact, and the main character backs down and forgives her even though you didn't want to, and she kisses him at the end. WTF? I don't want anything to do with her, and then you're forced to spend time with her. I also didn't see any options to reject a li´s. As it stands, everything is forced and genetic novel.character who pisses me off is Hedi. What do I want with someone who sleeps around?
The endless internal monologues get boring after a while. The main character could show some backbone for once, but he prefers to whine half the time. On top of that, the conversations are constantly repeating themselves. They ramble on almost until the end of the update about how both women are okay with the main character being with them. There's only a line or two here and there that actually deals with the story. I really hope they don't still be talking about this in the next update because it's very tiring to read the same thing over and over again, with the occasional change of character, but with the same content.
It would be best if the monologues were rewritten. The MC behaves like a virgin with the brain of a 13-year-old. Every time he opens his mouth, he just stutters. The MC should be given some character. He's had sex in the past, so why does he act like this? It makes no sense. He's a grown man who's independent, women are at his feet, and yet he's constantly whining like a cuck. If the things I've described were changed, it could be a really good game. The little bit of story that's there is entertaining, but I'd really like more of a story instead of the repetitive monologues and all the inner monologues translated with Google.

I like the premise of the game and I love games with monster girls, but dev ruins everything with another whiny MC. The character designs already feel like a downgrade from his previous game, but then the dev decides to write the MC in the worst way possible.
Girls keep telling the mc that they want to be with him and they don't even mind that he dates other girls but the MC spends all his time crying about how that is wrong and he can't do that.
It's almost like the dev looked at all the things people hated about single again and decided to make them 10x worse in this game.

I gave it a 2 because the girls were cute but it's got too much going against it for me to find enough enjoyment to go higher.

It suffers from the exact same problems the first game did. Girls like the MC, MC whines about how he can't do anything with them.

Then we get to a sex scene and something that has become my nemesis with some adult games.

Camera angles during animations.

Some games are awesome and let me pick what angle to see so when I see a hot one I can "enjoy" it.

What I can't enjoy is when the angles keep changing. It takes me out of the scene and is an instant turn off.

I hate it. Not saying that for effect either, I genuinely hate it when devs do that.

Average: 35 of 50 possible points giving a 70% rating i.e. 3.5 stars.

PROS:

1. Model visuals are not bad, they not great but they decent.
2. Writing and dialogue are pretty good, its structured and reads well. Dialogue is also thought through, fun and natural.
3. Story is not earth shattering from what I can tell so far, but fair, its got some interesting ideas and I think can be good.
4. Fairly decent amount of content for a first release
5. Has one lewd scene encounter, which is also of decent duration and quality.

CONS:

1. No sounds or music, while I think the dev did mention this, this review is based on what is in the VN currently. So...
2. At least one LI needs serious consideration for a facial. Gabrielle.
3. MC does look very plain, ordinary and boring, though his personality is witty and fun enough.
4. Sexual scene is not very appealing or sexually gratifying if you can call it that, its rather dispassionate and fails to capitalize on the situation.

FINAL REMARKS, OPINIONS & SUGGESTIONS:

NOTE: The following remarks are my personal opinions and thoughts, which may provide more context and could be useful to the developer.

• One LI, the first one the player sees, Gabrielle is not an oil painting, eyes are all wrong and too far apart, her face just is not...nope...I recommend fixing that one. Other than the eyes mostly, she looks like she has a nice body etc. BUT PLEASE FIX THE FACE.
• While the lewd scene so far is not bad at all, its also not really good. The scene was dark on a LI that has a dark skin and the body shine does not do it any favours. Also while physics are nice, the bodies do get in the way of decent angles and it all does feel very clinical and not passionate and sexy. I believe this scene failed to make use of the idea it had and did not deliver on the kinky, sexy or lustiness it should have.

TLDR:

Written pretty well, with interesting and fun characters and dialogue aswell decent visuals. But does not push enough into the sexy to really feel like an adult VN, it more feels like just a fun, silly and lighthearted animation that has a sex scene which is more matter of fact than sexually stimulating. I believe characters like Delphine may actually be more appealing due to their risque nature and her dialogue, there is clearly more sexual drive, passion and desire there. Added that the game has no sounds to amplify any scenes, especially sexual ones, the game does not "do it" for me in its current state (at least on the adult, sexual side of things)

This VN can easily get 4 stars with a bit more effort and attention, I will re-review this in the future.
