I'm drawing a blank on remembering a game.
It was made in RPG-Maker and had a futuristic Sci-fi theme.
You played a woman who walked from tile to tile with random effects happening. This ranged from fights against robots to collecting 'puzzle pieces'.
These puzzle pieces would generate on screen and gradually build up, showing you what was happening to the girl you were trying to rescue. (She was getting violated by robots and possibly brainwashed.)
I remember you had to collect weapons/ammo too.
You don’t know what is in a square until you walk into it.
