If you're asking like that, you're doomed. The n°1 skill in game development is knowing how to find what you need. You could have start on Youtube with some video like "How to make a game".
If you really want to make it like you plan: making the models, then making the game, you got a lot to learn and the learning curve is hard.
Really, go on youtube, find tutorials, if someone on a video speak about something you don't know, be curious about it.

i think it will be alot fast if you find some one to make with, it will take very long for you to learn how to make.
but if you want to learn the skill , well it will take a few year ( have to see what you want to learn)
free soft ware, blender 3d model and animation
pay software , zbrush for model ( zbrush can't make animation)
maya( can make model and animation)
3d max( model and animation)
these are the most common program but there is many other program.
