Narratively she seems positioned to become a main love interest. She was the MC's first. As far as character development goes, she arguably has had more already than any of the island ladies.

I agree. I meant that (iirc) she appears in the beginning of the game, then disappear for a while and every now and then she has a scene or two. But the game's history is pretty well developed already and they still (MC and Rin) didn't even saw each other yet. It just feels to me Rin is so far behind in comparison to the other LIs. Except the gods, like you said. But when it comes to Rin, she is there from the beginning and at the same time it doesn't really feel like that. She probably has an important role but it feels like she is a secondary character or something, at least for now.

It's possible Rin is on par with Diana. She might not be as strong as the MC at this point, but she is a skilled and experienced assassin. As with Eliza, I wouldn't be surprised if Rin gets a power-up when she joins the main cast.

Oh yeah, she absolutely is a secondary character right now, you're right. I just think that her history with the MC will quickly propel her forward. Despite not having seen the MC in a long time, her importance to him is baked in. This is one of the things I think Buu is handling very well.
Personally, I hope for a bit of drama between Eliza and Rin. Maybe Eliza can slowly let go of her jealousy, and we can get some group activities.

As I said this is likely for season 2 since Buu said there is going to be a time skip and he game Kira a new hairstyle for the time skip. This current chapter is supposed to be all about Rin
