The biggest problem with NTR is that almost nobody understands NTR, even the people making content they think is NTR.

You can read an NTR tagged anything, consume it, and realize it's not NTR at all. This is pretty common and I blame how confusing NTR is as a topic to do right.

So probably not how you imagine it, but I've seen a lot of Lifetime movies where the guy is a scumbag, cheats, and then the movie is about the depression of the woman. Sometimes at the end it ends with her killing the dude in some cabin in the forest or something.

So I don't like to consume that kind of content because it's depressing. So I wouldn't enjoy true NTR because it's depressing. So maybe it is out there and I just haven't seen it. Just what I HAVE seen that claims to be NTR tends to not be NTR.

I think NTR gets attention because it plays with strong emotions betrayal, helplessness, loss, stuff people are scared of in real life but curious about in fiction.

Meanwhile, Netori is more about power and conquest, which can feel "cooler" but might not trigger the same emotional hit.

Not technically true, at first netorare was netorare was netorare. It wasn't until later that the flavors of netorare like netorase and netori (and quite a few others) started showing up. The one requirement was that the destruction of something beautiful happens and some form of cucking. Preference does not apply to what is correct or real.
