VN - Ren'Py - Abandoned - Never Back Down [v0.5.1] [Antidote Lab]

The renders and character models are amazing, but that's the only good bit. Story and plot is non existent, writing is poor, grammar and story phasing is not good. Choices seem to have very little effect, animations are sparse and very short. As the game is abandoned it is quite short and there is nothing much to explore or see, hence rating it poorly.

I kind like this game, it your first game but i have to say it pretty good, got potential in future, didn't think your first try though.
Pros:
Render is hot, all female got big boob and big ass, not quite realistic but who care? If it fulfil my desire then i didn't have any problem.
Music is fine, surely you have spend time to choose songs fit the game's mood
Cons:
Many choices, many consequences. But, some situations happen didn't natural. For example, the blonde gamer let you look at her pussy out of blue, even you didn't make choice interest at her. You should think carefully at this, or you make less choice, or you change her into a slut who just want to fuck MC
The way you lead the story, didn't natural too. For instance, you didn't make introduce scene Candy, as well as the girl owned a bar. At least you have to did some introduce first to inform players, then do the scene with them later.
Also, you sometime drop the current scene of a character with MC and go to next scene with someone, out of blue. Example is, when MC was woke up by Anna, Anna see the big dick of him, then he run off, and you didn't give us a chance to see her reaction, him reaction, what they have done. You let Anna dissapear the game, and return at hospital scene like didn't happen anything.
And we want to know mom of MC, fan of incest.
And, i want to say about poor animation, but since it your first, i will looking forward to your improvement.

Really poor writing, but most of the girls are really gorgeous, it's such a waste.
Animation is not impressive but it's not a slideshow either, although not every sex scene is animated, unfortunately.

I know not everyone plays AVN's for the story, but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be one at all. The renders are beautiful and animations are good as well, and that's really all that kept me through to the end (0.5).

The game consists of few and far between choices and shallow relationships. The choices also don't seem to matter much. There are a couple that decide who your going to have a relationship with out of a pool of characters, but most of the relations are hard-coded and unavoidable.

The "story" is really just filler content between some P in V action. I get it, it's a porn game but what is even going on? It is disjointed. I don't want to spoil anything, but one scene has little to do with the next, the only real through lines are relationship choices (some you make, some you don't). The writing isn't great either but I'm assuming that it is translated into English and might make more sense in its native language.

This game has a great visual backbone, but the story really needs some work.

Game sure is weird, unique and weird but definitely not in a bad way(for me atleast others may find it deal breaker if they can't appreciate all the other goodness this game offers and fixate on this aspect) . Lots of models hot AF, and not the generic repulsive run of the mill, visuals are real eye candy, story is varied and quite interesting thought thats where the weirdness comes in, the premises, pacing, and progression may feel strange, but nonetheless game is very satisfying, lots of amazing sex scenes, hot models, a good enough story, choices, variety, overall a good game with especially bangable and lots of those girls and a story that is interesting enough not to put off.

As said at some other reviews the only good thing about this game is some good renders and a few hot girls. But obviously a Visual Novel game is not just that so I'm not going to give more that 2 stars here.

The sex scenes are not so good either but the main problem of this game is the writing. The story is shallow, uninteresting and the most important thing is that it doesn't have any consistency and many things don't make sense. You just have to skip dialogues until a sex scene. MC fucks anybody too easy by the way (i.e. he fucks his teacher at his first day at college at her office). There is also an ipatch which supposed to restore some family relationships but when the dev is clearly not write the story and the dialogues intended for family relationships I don't understand what's the point of making such patches, they just make the things even more confusing and even more without making sense.

Just another game which fails to the writing/story part...

Multiple aspects of this game - particularly around the UI - show how you can have a good idea, execute on it really well, and still end up worse off than you started. Many aspects of the UI have been prettied up, and in a way that shows the dev had a good vision for what they wanted, and they put in the effort to nail it. Except... they should get rid of most all of it.

Somewhere in the process, they kind of forgot what these UI features exist - namely to let us interact with the game. It's great if they are pretty and thematic and have a distinct style... but it's not worth sacrificing functionality.

For example, skipping forward. It's got some cool effects - both audio and visual - and it's pretty slick. And it takes forever. It's so slow, that even skipping through relatively small sections of the game takes so long that I just put the game in the background and go do something else. At least the audio they added helps in reminding me I need to go back and check it, I guess.

Then you have the more common sorts of problems when devs try to get a little slick with transitions. Clicking to move things along quickly is dangerous.

And then you get similar stuff in menus, and all that. For some reason (or accidentally, though I haven't seen anybody else manage it) they even killed the middle mouse button 'hide' hotkey, which is somewhat annoying.

Anyway. Then you have the rest of the game...

The quality of the renders should be pretty obvious. And I think they might be too good. It sets up some high expectations that the game just doesn't deliver on.

Many of the models are actually not that special. It's not that the images are bad, they just... lack something. The rest of the game has it spades, so it's a bit jarring when the models are so bland.

The writing is also... hilarious. Or extremely dull. The whole first sequence of the game is literally the useless first day of classes done in a fair bit of detail. It felt like a really bad setup for a sandbox thing, but so far that hasn't happened so... yeah. But yeah, the writing is just hilariously bad. At least at this point (0.5) it's not so much bad English as it is just hilariously weird. Like you've got girls having thoughts that go "how is he so good at sex" and then they turn around and call the MC "slugger."

You've also got a lot of just random shit straight into sex going on. That's not really even a bad thing exactly, but it all depends on the type of game. And so much of this game screams that they were going for something more serious/story-driven, but then it's just randomly falling into one hilariously written sex scene after another.

And the end result is just... meh. There's a lot of good ideas, and good work here, but... it just doesn't mesh together at all, and more than a few times I think the dev lost sight of the forest for the trees.

I really appreciate what was done to try and spice up the interface, but I think it was overdone. Any time you want to save, you have to perform way more clicks than default. I don't mind a fancy interface, but animations and additional clicks really detract from gameplay.

The Ctrl-to-advance concept of fast forwarding is neat. I really appreciate the custom dialog choices.

Renders are great, but gameplay and story just didn't click for me.

Char models are sexy AF. Candy is my favorite. Scenarios, poses and animations are all very well done. Much better than many other games on this site. The story isn't too deep and a little rushed at points, but I enjoyed the game and that's all that matters. I'll definitely keep an eye on this one. Keep up the good work dev.

The storyline is nice. It's also nice to see the MC is not a sore loser. It's kind of sad to see the Mother of MC is such a bitch. The scenes are hot. The Graphics and the looks of the women are also very hot. Overall has potential but we can only know with future updates.

So I am giving it two starts only and only because of the renders of the girls. And that's the only good thing about this thing. The story, not only does it not make sense, it doesn't even exist. Playing the game is like a big bad hallucination. Bad being the operative word in that sentence.

All the girls are too easy to bed. It's like everyone's just waiting to jump on the first thing that walks into their vicinity and has a dick. There's no character development. One minute you're talking to someone and the next you're in bed. Seriously, I was wondering almost every other minute if someone cut the game and put together only the sex scene.

Overall really poorly written. The sex scenes are meh as well. Don't get me wrong the renders, as I have said before, are hot. But the sex position changes every other click with nothing in between. Unless you want to see a series of stills of a guy fucking a girl with a brief animation lasting two seconds in between, you're probably not going to enjoy it.

It's a shame that it's so bad because the render quality is really good (of course other than the generic looking MC). I think the dev should get someone willing to write for him, and adequate literary skills to do it, and tell them the story so they can write it for him. While he should focus on rendering.

The story is really poor, almost all the things doesn't make sense or doens't add nothing to the story. The characters even looking good, are really poor developed.

the sex scenes it can even be good, but with all the lack of development and non-sense story, they turned into a big NO. This VN could be god tier if the story were good as the renders are.

This game has good art and a refreshingly well done UI.

It has sex but it somehow fell flat for me. Not terrible as it was well done visually, but pretty poor story building . The dialogue made me question if the author understood sex sometimes, and I don't mean because of the engrish. I can ignore a lot of that.

So I had some reasonable expectations for quality renders based on the pics with the OP, and I was not disappointed there.
The writing though... It is terrible. I am sure English is not the developer's first language, and there are considerable cultural difference in how men and women interact, so it made following the story almost impossible.
Good Fapping material, but story wise left me very disappointed. Could benefit from very serious editing and proof reading, basically re writing the text of this AVN to make it readable.
Keep trying!! Good renders. You need an Editor to rewrite this so it is legible to English speakers if you want to advertise and run it as an English language game.

The biggest and probably easiest to fix problems. The translation. The dev should try hard to get someone who can write proper English. (And how looking sexy you are!" - yeah .. no ^^)

Then the writing itself .. the game tells you so much unimportant stuff (how the school works and so on, thats boring). And some parts that dont make sense as others pointed out already (why the choice to blackmail the mom when she filed for divorce over amonth ago? ).

And why do we see the whole scene? When we record it - yeah ok, but why keep listening when you dont record her?

That scene could be changed. (with some work - yeah). It would be better when she talks to the son and has sex during that. Then you have some NTR (kind of) stuff that might please the audience better - or you hang up. Or give a 3rd option for that black mail BS when it is so important.

And yes that "you have to eat and drink what you get" stuff is ... strange? at best. Maybe to have a reason why everyone has the same asset to eat and drink?

And then? We cut to the home? And talk to some girl called Candy. The dialog dont give a hint what relationship we have, but bc of the sexual innuendo I guess she is our "sister"?

Then we jump back to class and talk to some girl named Madison ... and we talk like we know each other .. but we dont. At least not that the player knows of that.

It just spirals down form there "I report you for looking between your classmates legs! These immoral things are not allowed! - Or you fuck me, then I will overlook this." ... what? ^^ ... everything is convoluted and the "plot" is jumping around like a bunny on molly.

The other teacher see them, bust in, report them to the dean for having sex on school ground (that is not the main problem here when a teacher fucks a student^^) and the dean just gets hot and tries to molest that teacher. She flees but visits her later at night at home and is getting wet now ... yeah.

I stop here ... the renders look good and the girls are hot. But the faces lack emotion and expression most of the time. And the "story" is probably enough when you just skip and want to fap, but I need some nice story - for everything else I can just watch some gonzo videos.

So the game has potential but needs another writer with some skills in English and writing. The devs can then focus on the renders and get them right. Or dont spend as much time for pointless UI shenanigans and first try to nail the important part of this kind of game. Yeah it looks nice, but that is all - it is less convenient than the base UI.

As I said - with some help and work there is a good game in here, but currently you can only enjoy it when you can ignore all the writing.

A lot to offer with the different paths set up. As well as a lot of clean renders. Not to mention a lot of sexual content.

PROS

• unique interface - feels fresh and smooth
• thicc girls - all with a unique face

CONS

• poor sex scene pacing - sex positions are changed too quickly. I appreciate all the images but one position should play out a little more, perhaps just show that position in more angles before you move on to another position
• mediocre translations - ruins the sexy scenes a little, leaves the mood a little dry

Excellent renders and a unique and refreshing UI. Choices seems to matter in this game, unlike other VNs where it is mostly cosmatic options. English has some errors, but this is ok for a non native english speaker and does not hinder you from enjoying the game.

Dialogues can be improved. There absoulitly should be a "ntr is ok for you?" option.

Very good quality and renders for the first job. Interesting character design and story weave. Congratulations AntidoteLab, it's definitely a quality job.

Mom butt seems a bit oversized in some renders.
