New indie dev here, working on a Ren’Py 3D sandbox game

Hi everyone, I’m a new member here and a beginner indie game developer. I’m currently working on my first Ren’Py project, which is a 3D sandbox-style game. The first public version of the game is almost ready, and I’m currently trying to understand how the forum works so I can properly share it in the Ren’Py Games section once my account is eligible. For now, I’m here to learn from other developers, read feedback, and participate in the community while working toward upgrading my member status. If there’s anything specific a new developer should know before posting their first game, I’d really appreciate the advice. Nice to meet you all, and thanks for having me.

Since you're new to the site, before you put your game out, you should be ready to get some people criticizing your choice to have a sandbox game over a traditional AVN. It's a tag that gets a lot of hate, but largely that's from developers making empty or broken sandboxes more than a problem with the idea of sandboxes themselves. So, just fair warning about that. Otherwise, welcome and I hope your game does well.

I completely understand where that criticism comes from, and I agree that poorly executed sandboxes have given the tag a bad reputation.

I’ll definitely keep that in mind while working on the project.
