As of V2.
This is a fun game.
Positives:
- The art is great.
- Sound design is good.
- Every enemy has a picture when they attack, with certain enemies sometimes glowing and having a second multi picture attack.
- It is decently balanced. Every new level felt slightly challenging at least. If you go back to previous levels they get easier since you have permanent upgrades, but for the later levels even with a fair amount of upgrades they still aren't entirely 0 thought.
- Most of the scenes respect your preparation choice. If you choose shirt vs shirtless most scenes will either have a shirt or not respectively.
- With the permanent upgrades I don't feel as if any run is really wasted unless I screwed up greatly.
- Bosses at the end of the first two sets? were neat.
- When you beat a level you keep your weapon and glasses.
- The combat while it ends up relatively simple late-end, for early-mid isn't just brain dead simple. There are certain varying skills you want more than others and you do have reasons to use traps/buffs squares occasionally.
- You are encourage to fully explore the map as every so many titles grants you a reward, but they aren't so major that you feel like you have to always fully explore.
Neutral:
- Inventory. Early on you have to drop a lot of stuff you don't want which is a pain since you have to move to a new spot for every item you want to drop and you pick up items when you walk over them. Later on your inventory grows so large you never really need to drop anything again.
- Sometimes rng just forces you to eat walking over a trap. Sometimes more than once.
- The hub item closet exists? I mean I maybe used it once, but for the most part I just forget it exists.
Soft Negatives (Expected in release/update but not here now.):
- No gallery
- No GO screens (They existed in previous, but got removed?)
Negatives:
- While I like the random chance for glowing enemies, some glowing enemies felt like they almost never showed up for me. Like vig, hazmat, and chair you get tons of them, but the trap variants feel like they rarely show up. One of them I swear I only saw once and have yet to see again. Add on to this that the glowing enemies only have a chance to do the special attack... granted you can sometimes get an item to buff the chance.
- The "worst" piece of art in this would have to be the topless and panties preparation things. At least to me, the breasts just look really odd for the standing idle sprite.
