Well the account is back. I wonder if he self censored or just removed the Patreon posts and left the rest untouched.....his message about it is paylocked.
I think I saw it somewhere. He basically said Patreon is cracking down on celeb related content and the "they're fictional" argument did not work, reminded people he's on X, Gumroad, and Patreon for contact should anything happen but assured people that he will continue working, and is taking a break this month due to burnout but will have a piece done for the month and next month will be the finale of the Star Wars piece

Man Patreon is getting worse by the minute. I hope he makes the move to somewhere else.

I can understand when sites take measures against artists who make porn with real people but Ninjartist only uses fictional characters. Maybe (and this is just me speculating) the angle is that Ninjartist probably uses copyright-protected images from the actresses for their works? Or they are just VERY sensitive about the possibility of people mistaking the fictional characters for their actresses.

In Patreons case it's probably the "don't use real people" clause. As mentioned above the it's fantasy didn't work as appeal.
Most likely it's one of the times when some Celeb got their panties in a twist and sites are going on self protect crackdown mode.
Happened before.

It doesn't really matter if it's the fictional character, he still uses the actresses likeness and moat places are pissy about that lately.

To be fair the new deepfake laws make it very dicey to host any content that is clearly based on a real person, and when combined with payment processors like PayPal being extremely unhappy about their services being used in the creation of pornography, it makes sense that Patreon would view creators like Ninjartist as a potential issue.

Well, deepfake laws are targeted at things that are photo realistic; things that can deceive the viewer into thinking that it was real. This is clearly a painting (and it's of a fictional character), so there's no case to be made that a person might think that it's real.

As for creating images that resemble someone, that is legally protected and Larry Flynt of Hustler Magazine famously won a unanimous Supreme Court case over something just like this.

Three points:
1 - 'The Supreme Court made a ruling' doesn't hold so much water these days.
2 - Although headquartered in the USA, Patreon operates internationally and has to keep in mind laws in other juristictions.
3 - It really doesn't want the bad press of being a site that allows pornographic depictions of real people, even if clearly not photorealistic, even if it's more about the character the person portrayed than the person themselves.

It doesn't matter if it's a painting, it still shares the actresses likeness, and as well, it's also copy righted material, which is more murky water.

He could try doing 2 versions, 1 for patreon that doesn't resemble real actresses and the one that does he could try releasing somewhere else.

So, if a drawing resembling an actress is a problem we can say goodbye to his Harry Potter and Star Wars series(like Harvest of Souls and Sands of Damnation). Maybe Ninjartist will have to reinvent himself, because for some years his works are mostly based on real actress.

Hey guys,
Many of you must have noticed my account was suspended and being reviewed yesterday.
I was asked by Patreon's staff to delete posts that depict celebrities being in a sexual context.
I argued that these were all fictional characters, not the celebrities themselves, but that didn't fly.
So you'll notice my feed now has about 10% of the posts that it used to have. I had lots of messages to reply to after sending the rewards but was unable to send messages or post anything during this brief period, I'll try to catch up with those today. Thankfully though, I was able to lift the ban. It's very important to me to be able to stay in touch with you guys, to communicate how things are going to be, especially if I have to change the way I deliver my content so you know where to find me/it. I'm currently only actively posting in "X" (@TheNinjartist) and Gumroad apart from here. Should anything happen to my Patreon account in the future you will surely find info about me there.

On a separate note, I've already mentioned this when sending the rewards a few days ago but I will be taking most of August off due to being burnt out. I wanted to mention it here too for any newcomers to be aware of it as well. I plan to make 1 pic on my return before the 5th of September and dedicate the rest of the month to finishing SOD. I'll be away on a trip too so I won't be connected as much. I guess I will seize the chance to think about how I will proceed with my posts/content from now on given the circumstances with Patreon guidelines. Don't worry though, one way or another I'll make my content available to you guys.

Thanks for your support and the messages with best wishes for my vacations, you are the best!
See you soon :)
