PROS
+ Worldbuilding and plot are interesting -- even if implementation is lackluster, imo.
+ Dialogue is good and makes itself worthwhile reading. Didn't find myself skipping once.
+ Most character models looks good.
+ Some characters clearly have a lot of work put into them, like Mr. Dupont, even if they are not set up to be LI. This shows me that the author has plot and characters layed out way more than what we can see in the game, which is the correct thing to do for long term development. That's promising.
+ More on Mr. Dupont, it displays a disability as a fucking thing to deal with, rather than sugarcoating it x10 with "makes me appreciate life better" or "this chick has a disability but she is still insanely hot". Gets a big thumbs up from me.
+ Use of hover words for exposition. It's a nice way to do exposition, but please bear in mind that if I'm reading them for the first time (which I do) it's still exposition, which piles up with the exposition from standard dialogue.
CONS
- I have to agree with others when they say story is messy. Rather, it feels like the starting point for the story doubles the amount of exposition the game would need, and makes introduction of characters more rushed than it needs to be, the conflict you are already in needs to be explained and also the world you are navigating also needs to be explained. It really does pile up. The "I'll drop you right in the action" method only accomplishes what, getting me an action scene early, where I can see Sculpters, Dancers and Painters powers? Almost worth it I guess.
-I can see not being able to load from the "ESC menu" a bit of a bother, but the buttons from normal dialogue can be used instead. Only needed it once anyways.
- Ties to my point that there aren't many meaningful choices, or even flavor choices for that matter. Hopefully more in later editions.
- Others complained about the MC. I don't like it either but it's not a deal breaker either. But he looks too buffed and it's kind of hard to believe that music is what he does. In the real world -- yes I know it's a porn game -- you'd be hard pressed to find a top notch musician (the story claims MC is) which is this huge, as both those things take an incredible amount of time. It's like Jurassic World, I can buy that they revived a bunch of dinosaurs and made a theme park, but I can't buy that a girl outruns a T-Rex on high heels.
- The third part of the sex animation did look wacky.
VERDICT
A game with potential. The author has a good sense of scenery, good imagination and strong basis for character building a development. The writing is good, and the renders are good with interesting use of perspective.
Other issues like story layout or MC design can be hidden (with more use of POV) or entirely solved if the dev wants to rework all of that -- which I don't think I would in his shoes. I'd rate 3/5 (solid pass), but the effort here is undeniable, and it shows, so 4/5.
