Introduction:

I think there is a serious lack of reviews that actually review the games in question besides saying 1-2 sentences about it. I am trying to add to that number with this list.

I am doing my best to be spoiler-free in these and to give reasons as to why a game is/is not worth playing.

The Rating System:

The Rating scale goes from 1-10. 10 being a completely flawless game that cannot possibly be improved upon whereas a 5 is neither good nor bad.
No game, porn or otherwise, has ever been a 10 in my opinion so please keep that in mind.

Genre:
The Type of game (Sidescroll-Shooter or VN) as well as its Genre (Horror or Comedy).

Duration:
A rough time estimate. I don't exactly play with a stopwatch so this is only a guesstimate.

TW (Trigger Warnings):
Self explanatory. If I believe content may be upsetting to some people, that information will be included here and I will try to judge how prevalent it is. If you find any issues here, please let me know, ideally via dm.

Special attributes:
Sometimes a game has a certain aspect that is exceptional in some way or another, even though the game itself may not be. I will note these aspects in this part of the review.

Genre: VN with RPG Elements / Fantasy, Slice of Life

TW: Graphic Violence (2 Scenes, unskippable)

Special Attributes: NA

Review:

You play as a young Man (I called him Zay) in the Fantasy Town of Randel. You have just been enrolled into the Academy for training in the arts of Combat, History and Magic. You will however spend most of your time on adventures due to your enrollment at the local adventurers guild!

The game itself plays much like a highly polished flash-game from back in the day. Train your stats, meet the girls and go on occasional adventures. The artstyle is fun and different and it translates well into both the action sequences as well as into the refreshingly frequent humor. The writing also shines in both comedic and dramatic moments. There is no real overarching story to speak of, but all main girls have their own storylines, which is why I called it a "Slice of life game". The reasons why the score does not quite eke out a 9 are twofold. The actual sex scenes are good but I feel like the animation really hampered the art style. It did not translate well to movement in my opinion and would have been better of with still images.

All in all, a very well spent couple hours and I am excited to see more from the creators.

Long Live the Princess: 8/10

Duration:
5-10 hours depending on your choices and how much you replay.

Genre: VN with RPG Elements/ Fantasy, Investigation

TW: Mind Control (Extremely prevalent but not malicious, Sexual Assault( By MC, optional)

Special Attributes: NA

You play as a young Man (I called him Zay (Origin of the Name btw)) in a small fantasy village. You are studying your ability as a thruthsayer when your mentor, the old truthsayer, dies. Unfortunately the Princess is coming to town soon for her coronation and it will thus be your job to keep her safe from malicious meddling during these proceedings. Or so it appears at first glance.

This too feels like an extremely well made flash game of the olden days. Train stats, meet girls, you get the gist. What sets this game apart are its very interesting story as well as its "Investigation System" and "Mind Control". You will gather clues to unravel the secrets of the Characters so you can invade their minds when they are caught off guard in order to piece together more and more dirty secrets as well as train your skills.

The style is classic Ren'py staple but well executed with some well done animations. Writing-wise is is also good with plenty of humor, even though the story is more focused on the drama and the time-crunch you are under to train for the coronation. You can actually fail (quite easily I might add) so replay value is high right off the bat.

The rating of 8 is mainly for 2 reasons. The artstyle is as I said, well done but nothing exceptional. The second one being that your mind-control of potential lovers is never really adressed in game which I find quite odd. The "happily ever after" feels very tainted when you achieved it by mildly brainwashing that partner. It's only "removal of inhibitions" which is why it's not lower but it still left a bad taste in my mouth.
