what's with people complaining about gameplay in non renpy non vn games?
some of us want to do more then mindlessly fap(if i wanted that i would open a porn site or hentai site)
i like games that are well......actual games with gameplay i like too work and get rewarded with scenes
i like the idea of having a story(same reason i gravitate to doujins over real porn)
yet the amount of people complaining about for instance rpgm having combat(the entire rpgm engine is designed to make turn based rpgs)
is just getting a tad bit ridiculous worse that its start infecting reviews causing people to rate games lower because i cant just ctrl skip trough everything
not everything have to be a visual novel going to threads to complain about combat existing in an rpgm game or management existing in a management game
or people complaining that they can actually lose is a bit silly putting it mildly

That's something new... Why do these people even play those games then? Seems like a lot of users still hasn't discovered tag search.

I'll be honest, I avoid games with combat because I don't like them, but I don't get the complaining either. It's wild to me how people will complain about stuff in games when it's entirely avoidable by doing just a little bit of reading. Beggars can't be choosers but they sure want to be.

To be honest, I actually have the exact opposite problem. VN Games are okay. I like to play them sometimes. But I am more into games, where the focus is more on game mechanic, like management games as you said.

But unfortunately, I encounter alot of games, which contain tons of text, although they are never tagged as "VN". There is also the "text based" tag, but no one seems to use it (maybe because everyone thinks, the tag is meant for purely text based games).

That's why my reviews are divded into 3 main parts for non-VN games (or generally for games, which are not tagged as text heavy and based on the type of game, shouldn't be text heavy). One part is "game mechanics", the other is "frequency of scenes" and the last one is "dialogues".

As you mentioned, the grind-reward balance can be unfortunate with some games, even if the reward, when it finally happens, is really good. Amount of text influences this, making the time span between two rewards alot longer. Or too much grinding can have the same result as too much text.

It depends on the game, if it needs alot of text and story, or not. When it is a (for example) brothel management game, I expect more game play and rewards, and barely text. But I encountered enough games, where the Devs tried to overbalance both. They basically tried merging a full story/VN game with a full management game.

Anyways, I didn't really pay attention, if people complained about lack of text in games. I rather have the opposite problem. Many games actually seem to have lots of text, but these games have no tags pointing out the mass of text.

People on this site really love writing paragraphs of text, eh? :4Head:
