I'm getting an creepy vibe from this game description and the horror tag. Is it something along the line of Doki Doki Literature Club or something milder?

Its mild and not really horror but it is mild horror. (I really can not describe it the right way.)
You just have to play it and there is 7 different "secrets" scene that must be unlock for the story to move forward.
I would say play it and if you don't like the first secret that comes up then use the "Skip Unread Test" option in the settings to skip over the other 6 secrets scenes.
I confirm it's pretty easy to get it from the web.
