Yeah that's what I meant I feel like people are repeating talking points from 2000s but the world is different now. Idk if it's just you but I see people especially older people mock men as being too feminine even. So like it can't be both ways at the same time can it?
Older men have ALWAYS mocked younger men for being weak and unmanly, and it has always been overblown. "Your generation is soft! When I was your age, I was fighting in the trenches or jungles of so and so/walking 20 miles in the freezing cold just to get to school." and "Cut your hair and get a job! You look like a damn girl!" You'll find it in The Clouds by Aristophanes (5th century BC) and in the works and private correspondence of other writers of classical antiquity (e.g. Sallust, Livy, Juvenal), and all throughout history. Many books have been written on this exact subject. I'm not saying there isn't some truth to the claim that men are getting softer, but so is the world (well, generally speaking). That's just a(n inevitable?) consequence of material progress.
Anyways I think this sigma male shit is way overblown and is essentially a meme at this point. It's just the social media method of operations that you have to say outrageous shit to get attention. It goes for both sexes, the craziest opinions are being brought into the spotlight.
And you don't think the same thing is true of your previous statements: "Dunno what year you're living in bro but if you speak to any young people they're all(not literally all but it's not rare at all)into femboys and whatnot." and "Idk man I don't feel like that's true at all. From what I see all the stuff you mentioned that is supposedly seen as gay is super popular on social media and spoken about plainly."? I think you might be experiencing what's called the out-group homogeneity effect (the tendency to see members of another group as all the same and to overgeneralize from a few examples), probably because of the fucking recommendation algorithm. I never see stuff like that in my feeds, nor have I ever spoken to a young person who was vocal about being into femboys (other than here on f95, that is).
There was a funny tweet I saw, it was an experiment - someone posted something positive and something negative, two tweets and the negative one got loads more attention.

Psychologists have been studying the phenomenon since the '70s. Maybe even longer.
It's evolutionary. Our ancestors needed to prioritize threats like predators and other dangers to survive. For modern people living in the industrialized world, it's mostly just a cause of unnecessary stress and anxiety.

No I don't think it applies to my statements. Of course I don't talk to people irl about liking femboys and what not  I am judging sexual preferences by what I see on sites of sexual nature. Type in femboy on porn sites you'll find it's all over. If it wasn't accepted that just wouldn't be the case.. well I'm not gonna question your lived experience and I am just saying stuff how I see it. Open like a ai chat porn site. Like you don't think people on porn sites are real? If you expect people to talk about femboys and shit on the street I don't know what to tell you. Women irl haven't told me they like to be rwped by beasts animals and monsters yet what do we see here.. Anyways not gonna address the rest of the yap i hope you don't hold it against me

Idk why people think that every man and woman will openly talk about sex and discuss about kinks and share their fantasies.

I never said anything about "the streets". I was talking about social media, since you said it was "super popular on social media and spoken about plainly".
I don't deny that it is more tolerated these days, and that you see more of it on porn sites and the like, but that doesn't necessarily make it common IRL.
Take transgendered people. They're still less than 1% of the population, but since they get so much media exposure a lot of people assume that they're everywhere.

Yeah I stand by what I said. From what I see gay stuff etc is discussed plenty on social media, just my experience I suppose. So you're implying there should be more trans people? Idk how that makes sense(I've no desire to go even more offtopic on this tbf) The fact they're discussed this much already supports my point that people talk about these sexual subjects a lot.

Well yeah, it's easy to pretend to be someone else online. The majority of people aren't very private on the internet, they talk about personal life and share their interests. I guess because most people are lonely and it's not easy to find someone who share same hobbies in life. Not to mention, people are addicted to social media and don't socialise and hang out anymore. Of course you have those who troll, mock and judge other people but those aren't that brave to say it in real life hence cyber bullying. We will soon get AI companions!

No, I did not say there should be more, or less, transpeople. I said people think there are more transpeople than there actually are, because of the availability heuristic. I assumed you would understand what I meant by that, since we were talking about the risks of overgeneralizing from a few examples.

Of course. I'm not entirely sure how that was relevant to what I was saying, but I agree with you.

Yeah just saying it didnt help your argument since it's a widely discussed topic and that's kind the thing we were talking about
Edit: I'm not gonna go back and pick apart your words explaining how I could have understood them differently that's just not what I'm into

You never know. Maybe I am an AI. :WeSmart:
Nah I have enjoyed a "few" rp sessions  I can tell! But if you want to prove me wrong... ;)
Edit: not even a response... Left hanging twice in one thread, no less. I don't know how much more I can take..

Err? No, we weren't. Or, at least I wasn't. I was talking about whether or not it's common for young men to be "into femboys and whatnot", not about how often those topics are discussed.
Maybe we misunderstood each other.

Well, whatever. that's just how it goes we are all over the place. Young men are commonly into femboys from what I've seen and whatnot, What's that got to do with trans people. of course it depends on your definition of common. You the type of guy who's gonna argue where common starts and uncommon ends?

It has absolutely nothing to do with transpeople. That was supposed to be an illustrative example of how, if you're regularly exposed to something, you tend to overestimate how common that thing is.

Edit: You're absolutely right. "Common" is relative. In this case relative to how common it was in previous generations. I just don't think there's that big of a difference, even if one can easily get that impression if one only goes by what one sees online. But whatever, I don't think this is going anywhere.

Sure I don't think that's the case though (y)
Edit: I already said before I'm not questioning your experience. If you disagree thats cool your argument isn't really supporting your case. Just my opinion!
