He'll say he needs to stay in the hospital for a week or so.

"Oh no, complications occurred - in hospice for 3 months."

Shame too, this was one of the few 'phone' games that actually pulled it off without spontaneously combusting. (debatable, IMO the MC really is kind of in hard denial and the moment he finds out the truth he absolutely should leave her, but it isn't to the point where i genuinely hate the characters. Looking at Lending, here.)

Finally cancelled mine today.

Didn't mind waiting, I get it, takes time making a great game where choices actually matter (11 weeks tomorrow since 0.21.2)
Didn't mind like most about the nonstop excuses that seem to get crazier (shit happens I get it)

For me it was the lack of communication. The game is free (F95 and kemono) and patreon also free (kemono). I wanted to pay to support and get alittle insight / information about how the game is progressing and where its going and behind the scenes. But we havent even heard from Nosy for almost 2 weeks on discord. Nosy's only update in forever was it will release Friday after all the issues.

Get no information anymore about anything. He doesnt even small talk anymore in his own discord. Get told its releasing Friday no matter what and its Sunday and Nosy still providing no information. Hard to support Nosy when he goes silent forever, finally tells us Friday, and lies about that too. Even discord I have seen people ask for smallest bread crumb of an update, they will shit on you for being upset with the lack of communication.
Sadly have to agree. That discord more toxic than here, and that is surprising.

Have one random guy reply to any criticism and opinion with a link on how to unsub. Hell think they sent 3-4 just today. Hell joked about not allowed to have one, and they sent me it too lmao.

You have another who screenshots patreon opinions that have lots of likes agreeing and posts it for laughs with the others.

And like what you said, Nosy has been gone so its basically turned into these few ppl who only provide ai photos in the image share go around trying to make people leave for not being only a wallet lol

Discord became a place for everyone to share their ai photos, and if you talk in general chat you are flamed and told to leave.

I haven't yet seen one of these 'phone' games make it to a conclusion. I have one I posted that I'm working on now that I hope will break the trend but when I'm looking at others as a model for how they've done it, it's a wasteland.

Since i'm also on that discord, just wanna say, you can mute anything related to sharing AI gens from others (i know because i've done so myself, couldn't care less about this stuff)

Regarding that other point... you're allowed to voice your criticism but the chat heats up pretty quickly if you do it in an overly entitled way (not sure how to describe it otherwise).

Just my 2 cents....

with a branching system that gets more complicated as the updates add up, things will become more difficult to troubleshoot at this point, especially if the dev team is really just one guy.

as for cancelling subs, many other patrons of other devs usually just sub on the month when the update drops and unsub soon after. iirc, patreon's model is really akin to those Renaissance patrons who can afford to pay monthly the artists in their employ. the patreon model of ordinary guys pitching in monthly for another ordinary guy's dream project is really only something that is very post-2010-ish.

as for the radio silence, while it might suck for customers, it's usually the better way for games development to happen, rather than communicate too much to the audience. the "we hear you" mentality if many indie and AAA development teams usually are their own can of worms.

I think the problem is that the dev will promise the update at a certain time, and then miss the deadline and struggle to communicate after that.

The better option would be to just not communicate the specific time of the update, instead maybe giving an estimate at most with some leeway time. Like in the next month or so sort of thing.

They're causing problems because they're promising specific times and never meeting them. And then the excuses given are always just..

Maybe the hope is that it inspires people to resubscribe before the update in preparation, but when you're constantly missing the update time, it puts more people off.

But I agree, patreon's monthly subscription is obviously not good for game developments like this. It would be better if they introduced a new style of membership for games in particular. You could still keep a monthly subscription, but instead, prompt developers to do lower monthly subscriptions to then give discounts to unlock updates, but leave it open that people could pay to access the update at a different price without subscriptions.

Where can I talk to him?
You can try to DM him here but he don't come very often... Your best bet should be on discord but if you ask this it means you don't have access.

Just to mention right now he is quite occupied... His real life work, beta testing for Nosy and the new layout for the guide...
