I've been wondering about Photoreal Devices for Nvidia Iray.

Basically - should I use both CPU & GPU? Or just tick the one that is better?

I'm running with CPU: Intel I7-6700, 3.4 ghz and Nvidia Geforce 1080 8GB.

I have an I7 9th gen CPU and rendering with it takes a lot of time. And rendering in Iray would be faster in Nvidia graphics processor since they use Nvidia Iray and hardware acceleration.

Selecting both will sometimes make the program to only use the CPU and slows down my PC. So I prefer to use the graphics driver.

I've noticed that when I select both of them my computer is a lot louder (guess that's the fan on CPU). Does having only ticked GPU affects the rendering time?

It does - but by more CUDA cores your card have, more marginal is the gain, Iray is build for Nvidia card for and foremost not CPU. Generaly you untick CPU as you want to work on another Daz instance while rendering on another one, which is more time won in the long run.
