We are Dreadpool Studios. Formerly known as "Deadbeat Studios", which was a play on my name that nobody will understand. The reason for the rebrand is just a switch in image. Many of our games will still be edgy as fuck and touch on topics many won't like, but that's the largest reason for the rebrand. Our games will be on the more serious side, but that doesn't mean we have to be. At the end of the day, we're just here to have fun. We don't have any ambitions beyond making short games that leave an impact.
We started on another game some time back, but it never saw the light of day beyond a development thread on F95 (To Hell & Back). We may go back to it, but for now it's going under the bed with the rest of the bodies (you'll never catch me, FBI). But if you manage to find that, you'll generally get the idea of why a potential Patreon ban is likely. This one is also possible, so keep an eye out for that SubStar.
As a longtime lurker of AVNs and huge fan of many, I've always found a majority of the AVN world to be a bit too...I don't know, politically correct? I won't use the word "woke" because it's dumb and doesn't really circle around entirety of what I mean. Pale Carnations is the most fucked up thing 70% of AVNs players will even look at despite it effectively just being BDSM.
Myself and the person I'm working on this with want to make something that challenges morals and makes you question right or wrong. Something that, as mentioned, we find lacking in AVNs as a larger sum.

Haunted by the suicide of his childhood friend and girlfriend, you step into the shoes of a young man whose mental health rapidly is rapidly declining. Distanced from family and friends' months after her suicide, the only things you have left are the younger sister of your late girlfriend and the manifestos of a man who tried and failed to clean the world. Manifestos slowly sounding less like the quotes of a genius and more like that of a mission statement.
The world has driven you into a corner. It's taken everything from you. The love of your life, the happiness, the sadness, pain. Everything. No matter how good you try to be, the bad step all over everything and continue to win. With nothing to your name beyond a mattress and a gun, you succumb to words of the man preaching into your earbuds. You'll do what he failed to do and clean the world, but unlike him, you won't give the world a third chance.
But just as you take one step forward, you find yourself trapped by existence of the girl who should've abandoned you like everyone else when her sister died. The fall of Rome is coming either way, and every empire needs an Odoacer, but can you burn everything to ash with it?
The engine is the tried-and-true Daz3D. While there's some Blender assets sprinkled in (the banner up at the top, for example), it's mostly Blenderkit/CGTrader > Blender > Daz. The cast is quite small, allowing me to take advantage of Genesis 9 models. There's nothing game changing about the renders in Odoacer, but I think they look good enough to do the job.
Visually, I want the tone to be cinematic. Lots of colder tones, blues, and stuff like that. The UI itself will be fairly minimalist on its own, likely with a heavy dosage of glassmoprhism/aero for the more static stuff.
A visual element I'll be practicing with Odoacer lies with the visual cues. Nothing is focused on for no reason. If a beer cap is shown, it means something. If a door handle is zoomed in on, it means something. There won't be any dialogue, monologue or exposition that hand hands. All that said, the story isn't some kind of espionage. It'll be easy enough to follow (assuming user is actually reading).
Animations will not be a focus of the game. Mostly due to lack of time to invest into them. To that end, we might experiment with the inclusion of AI animations. We're mostly dipping out feet into the space to see if this is for us, hence such a short game. Music will almost certainly be AI, however.
Jamie is the protagonist. A brilliant young mind heading right for law school. Graduating at the top of his class, the girl of his dreams on his arm, and boosted by the wealth of his parents, you could say Jamie wanted for nothing. He had it all. And despite it all, you never would've guessed that was his life. Messy hair, oversized hoodies, and ripped jeans were a mask for the life he wanted nothing to do with.
Then he lost everything. His girlfriend, his friends, school, his parents. It all fell out from underneath him. Three months later and he's barely scraping by in a shitty apartment with a dead-end System Administrator job that he has to share with the very man he wants to slit the throat of.
Olivia, or Liv, was the girlfriend of Jamie. They grew up together in the same neighborhood for 18 years, but had only dated for three of those 18. Jamie watched as his childhood friend acquired the bad habit of picking up terrible men and future alcoholics who would peak in high school. Until Jamie finally had enough and told her.
And now she's just a soul he carries the weight of. But that doesn't stop her from haunting his dreams, asleep or living.
Ryan is the younger half-sister of Olivia, and in many ways, the polar opposite. Blunt and hardheaded. Working as a coach for the same soccer team she played for in high school, the now eighteen-year-old remains close to Jamie, or at least attempts to. Perhaps it was their connection through a shared trauma, maybe it was feelings she was oblivious to, but something drew her him. Despite everything, she was there - and she wanted to be - even if she wasn't entirely sure why.
Just to start here, the game is not at all sex heavy. There'll be maybe one or two scenes total. This is a very story-focused game and the fact that it's an AVN isn't going to change that. Fetish-wise, the story will be fairly vanilla. Nothing too crazy.

Devlogs will be on Patreon/SS first. Then here. Devlogs will always be free, and if they're ever not, call me on my BS. Much of the other stuff will likely be Patreon/SS/Supporter exclusives, though. Each log will be linked below. There's no estimated release at the moment. However, early 2026 is the hopeful date. And maybe late 2026 for Steam. If they take us on, at least. Kinda iffy with the topic of the game lol.
