Hello,
Hope you all are having a wonderful day filled with gooning.
As a long time member of F95 and a long time player of H-Games, it saddens me to see some awesome games, not having a proper translation...
So I would like to try and change this problem.
I have a couple of tools that I've picked up over the years for translation, albeit they aren't as good as I would want them to be even if I try to go through them multiple times for one sentence.
So I figured, why not find a better tool with better wording, reasoning and consistency to help me out alongside the other tools I have. (Such as Capture2Text and JGlossator).
I can try and train a GPT model for the translation of these types of games with a combination of the other tools and get proper results. OpenAI might have some strict regulations on how they don't to do anything with any sexual content, but I found a way around it and thought, why not spread some love?
I've seen a couple of F95 members, that are translators, that gave up after a while, for one reason or another(no inspiration to continue, not enough people pledging, no time, irl problems, etc), and that saddens me. I wish all of them the best.
Here is an example of the translation:
Not pretty, right? The proper translation for this should be: “I guess all we can do is pray they take their time…”
I especially love this one
The proper translation, or one of them, is: “Ah… um… that book was about Big Sis Bea’s origins, right?”
The previous lines were about an enemy infiltrating the castle while the player is away, hence why they are hoping for the enemy to take their time and not attack the castle again.
So why am I asking this?
First of all, I want to play games normally without my brain short-circuiting while trying to understand the translation, ye?
Also, if this goes well and my translations prove to be good, perhaps I can be a little bit of an asshole and earn some pocket change out of it? Maybe make it a business? (Since Kagura games loves taking their time and release translations once every 2 years).
What do you all think?
Would you be okay with this? Would anyone be willing to waste their money on me?
I would love to translate a project, if someone wants to volunteer a game? Now, there might be some limits, to Renpy and RPGM games, I believe these are the only ones I will be able to do for now, until I actually acquire some more experience in coding.
