VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Once in a Lifetime [v1.0] [Caribdis]

Amazing game, the plot is kinda simple but at the same time entertaining, and you can't stop playing. I did play the game without any expectation but it did end up being one of my favorites. I played several times to get all the endings and even now it keeps me entertained. Masterpiece

This was an incredible game. I was actually pulled into to story, and at times it felt like the sex was secondary. The comedy was absolutely hilarious, at one point I actually had to stop playing because my head hurt from laughing so much. It blew my expectations out of the water. 10/10

I would normally rate this at 3 out of 5 ... maybe 4 out of 5, its not perfect in many ways, there are issues ...

I would love to have a 10 star rating here instead of 5 ... this would be an 8 out of 10

But who am i kidding, i've had a blast with this one.

I rate games mostly of how much i had fun with them. It doesnt have to be perfect, doesnt have to look perfect, it doesnt have to have the best graphics or animations and so on ... for me, its how much fun i had with it.

I'll try to keep this short, my reviews usually end up being way too long

The story is surprisingly good even if its a bit ridiculous at some points.

The best part is the humor imo. Yes, i know, i wasnt expecting it either. A blend of porn game and comedy... seriously

Its not perfect ofc.
Graphics are kinda on the low end ... kinda bad actually, especially when it comes to the backrounds. The models are fine for the most part but not great. There were only a couple of them that were above average.

Animations were great tho. Much better than most other games.
Although i have to point out, there is a LOT of clipping in said animations.

The writing ... its briliant imo (for this genre). This is mostly why it gets 5 out of 5.


What can i say? I had a blast with this game, well done devs! I will surely keep an eye out for the next thing you can cam up with!

I'm normally not someone who leaves reviews but this game (and Eternum) are exceptions.

Was definitely not expecting a game like this to be so funny. The writing combined with the characters expressions and the mixups with dramatic close ups really makes this game stand out.

I dig that there was no grinding involved, just a straight story with a surprising amount of choices throughout, which really kept it engaging, especially when the choices matter.

There's a lot more that could be said, but other reviews have that covered, I just wanted to leave my 2 cents and compliments to Caribdis for a game well done. Very well done.

Was good, many feels. Downvote for honey select, but you managed to make them look good enough. No preggo sex either, but at least you managed to knock up your relatives.

One of the funniest games I've ever played. The developer is a genius at using the constraints of the visual novel to accomplish some extremely funny gags, and the writing had a lot of laugh out moments for me. Apart from that it had an interesting plot, a great cast of characters, and a horny but weirdly wholesome tone I've never seen done anywhere else. Just a fantastic game. I love it.

I just recently finished this game, and just wanna say it is an incredible adventure. 4.5 is my rating as it wasn't perfect and the devs will agree themselves, but they took it as a challenge to improve, and the game gets better for it.

I would like to mention that at the start I was very doubtful of this game, as playing it recently it has not so great graphic in the start and there was way too much text/info dump to start the game, so I even uninstalled it to play other games first, but when I reinstalled it and played it when I had the time, I can say that it was great that I did, I loved it, graphics got better as it progressed, so do not let the first impression let you stop from experiencing this adventure.

It was the first game of the dev and it showed at the start, but good thing is that they worked on it and improved (it is evident clearly in their new game too) and by the end it is an overall brilliant experience. I also like to mention that the dev/storytellers treat side characters well, as even bad bullies or less popular side characters get amazing twists and that adds to the overall feel.

All relevant characters are good (nature wise or look wise, except the MC but that is by design/intent and it is used to provide some great moments), there is a very engaging story so you just doesn't slog through it to get to good bits, Humor is top notch. I would play this even as a non-adult game.

It was good, and there was nothing specific wrong with it (except maybe some of the repetitive odd poses that all HS games seem to have), but I had a little trouble staying interested in the last half.

The art rarely has much to do with my opinion of a game, except when its really bad. Nothing horrible here, and nothing amazing. Standard HS stuff /shrug

I am pretty sure the nice big wholesome incestharem is what kept me coming back to finish it, so that is what allowed it to keep the 3 stars despite my losing interest. Also, wtf, no preggo-harem group picture with them all knocked up? I feel like thats pretty much a requirement for this type of end. Its your trophy you can paste to show you Got em All

I supported the game until the end, one of the bests games I ever played. Recommended 100%. Great Story, nice characters, multiple endings, your choice really matters, and great comedy. The animations are smooth and full definition. Like I said: Mmmmm so good and tasty...

There are certain things that don't quite strike my fancy, but that's just my personal preferences. Also think there are some things that could have used a bit more fleshing out, but... considering how quickly the dev made this - still pretty fantastic.

Came for a quickie, stayed for the story. I was really shocked by how great the game was, i've played my fair share of R18 games and this one places among my top favorites. Of course, there is room for improvement here and there but even so I still loved the game to no end! Highly recommend if you haven't tried already

This game is a straight up work of its own and a masterpiece in my opinion. The humor is as swift and grand as the suspense each update left the player in until the very end. The characters are colorful in personality and their interactions are so engaging and hilarious. I recommend this to anyone, play this game. You will not be disappointed. #SMForPresident

It's honestly baffling to me that Once in a Lifetime is one of the top rated games on f95zone. The bulk of the game is juvenile claptrap mixed with endless paragraphs and dialogue building an incoherent and unengaging story.

The prose is, frankly, dreadful. The writing in the sex scenes barely reaches the level of mediocre; outside of them it is laughable. Each scene you can look forward to being introduced to a cliched character who will regale you with uninspired insipid exposition before either fucking you if the character is female, or making an absolute fool of themselves or worshiping you if they're male.

The plot is simply a maze of Deus ex machinas, one after another. I admit I skipped half the dialogue, but I could find no coherent reasoning or connection to the plot behind half of the plot devices introduced.

Also, the villains (and most of the time the heroes) are all completely dumb.

As a saving grace the game is occasionally funny and charming in a sort of juvenile bathroom humor way. Unfortunately, absurd and unpredictable events and characters only remain funny if used sparingly within a coherent and consistent world. Once in a Lifetime is rarely, if ever, coherent or consistent.

This one is just plain good o' fun! It's a power and sex fantasy all the way through and has some of the most odd and memorable characters I've seen in VN. It's quite nice having recurring jokes that evolve overtime. It's even better when the drama is kept to a minimum for such a fun experience.

The story itself is great! It is tense, it is exciting, it's well paced and well written! Even without the sexy time in the game, it still worth the read! And it was juggling tense and scary moment with the right amount of ridiculous jokes! Just terrific!

The only bad thing I can say is possibly the models themselves. Not that they are bad on their own, but they were too similar to one another. The same body type, almost the same breasts size, and even the faces were pretty similar. I guess this was most true for the mother and two daughters, so it kind of makes sense, but still.
But even with that it was a great read, a great play. I was laughing out loud on multiple occasions, I was engrossed in reading the mistery in other occasions.

but cmon, what a missed oportunity with Rebecca. Shes pregnant with your son and leaves her wedding to start a new life with her teenage lover...just to go to that plane and discover you are fucking 5 other girls, 3 of them your family, and 2 are pregnant too...I imagine that face close-up you do(I like it a lot!) with Rebecca with a "I think I fucked up" face.

Really good job! I liked it a lot! Mike MVP and that tour guide(forgot name) was incredible too.

5/5 absolutely worth it

No grammar/spelling errors. Loads of comic relief. There are loads of nice CGs and animations. Great story.

What could be better?
I guess making different girl models (they are somewhat similar to each other) and more KINKS.

But it's still 5/5!

Solid game with excellent dialogue and transitions, i really enjoyed this piece of art. The renders are good, sex scenes are sexy and enjoideables, i like the jokes dialogue and stupid stuff with the characters.
For me this game is 5/5

I am caught in between giving this a 4 or a 5 so 4.5 it is.

Once in a Lifetime does a lot of things well but it also felt a bit lacking in some aspects. Contrary to what I usually see on the forums, I actually prefer HS graphics so the art and animation is a plus for me. The jokes are also pretty funny and I like how some of them are conveyed simply by the camerawork.

Looking at the heroines: Judie and Lauren are pretty good; Iris, Aiko, and Jasmine are okay; Carla and Rebecca could have been better. Iris is an odd one since she's not really connected to the main story but she was immediately accepting of all the weird stuff going on with the main trio. The treatment that Carla and Rebecca got sucks for me since older women types are my favorite heroines. Their character stories felt disjoint from the rest and that highlights one of the aspects of this VN that felt lacking. There is not much interaction among the girls aside from them interacting together with the MC. We have Judie-Lauren, Judie-Iris, Lauren-Aiko, then Jasmine, Carla, and Rebecca by their lonesomes. The harem ending is nice and all but the transition to that state was abrupt like, "Okay we're all going to move far away, this is everyone coming with, and by the way I'm having sex with all of you," Carla and Rebecca just accept it as if Carla doesn't mind that you're fucking both of your sisters and your cousin (though to be fair you're already fucking your mom) and Rebecca doesn't mind that you're fucking with your family members. I really think that part could've been smoothened out.

Special mention to Stabby Mike. He was an amusing fellow and it was nice to see him pop up once in a while throughout the story.

Overall this VN was a great experience but it fell a bit short from being perfect.
