VN - Ren'Py - Completed - Once in a Lifetime [v1.0] [Caribdis]

Great game, a bit silly with some interesting twists that i didnt think were going to be popping up as we went along. Excited to see what path this ends up going down. Interesting harem story and want to see where the pregnancy aspect comes in.

This one was great.

The story was surprisingly interesting - if ridiculous - but had some plot twists that I actually didn't call or expect. The humour landed with me most of the time, and a couple times I genuinely laughed out loud. The girls were cute and sexy (although perhaps a little unrealistically so) and I enjoyed all the lewd scenes with each of them of which it felt like there was just the right amount. There's also multiple endings that can be achieved, though IMO only the one feels right.

The only point I'd make is that I'd have liked some more time with the girls *during* the ending in place of some of the slides: particularly for the "harem" ending as it's not clear if they all know of each other at that point (and how fantastical/sexy that process was), and even more specifically if the player opts for the "pregnancy" route(s).

Overall, this game is a great time and is 100% worth checking out. Stabby Mike for president.

The models of girls are sedentary, but as for me, they are very beautiful. In general, I liked it. I advise everyone to play.

This is probably my favourite game in the whole site. Dev’s writing is fantastic, he was able to create incredibly sweet and charismatic characters who really get into you and who will stay with you for life, all with a divine sense of humour. Sex scenes and animations are great too, so this game can really satisfy those who come for the story and see sex as a bonus (like me) or those who come for sex and see the story as a bonus.

The plot really keeps you involved and I often found myself laughing and thinking about the game during my daylife routines. And when that happens that’s definitely a good sign, so congratulations, I really look forward for the new game and for that last update - like so many people have said, some extras are still needed for a “grand finale”, and that way I will also be delighted to play the game again from the start!

Now for what I don’t like: even if this game is far from being a nonsense orgy, like so many others on this site where women throw themselves at you, the only way you can enjoy a full experience is if you go sexually for every women on it, and I mean EVERY one of them (the two sisters, their mother, the teacher, their best friends, etc). As soon as you reject sex with one of them, either because you’re not attracted, you are afraid of the consequences, you have all your focus on one girl (my case) or simply because you don’t feel like it, you immediately lose all the future content of the story with her, which can be so rich and funny, and you end up only playing around 60% - 70% of the game story.

I totally don’t agree with a game model where you must go for the harem to get the full content, that’s the only reason that keeps me from patreoning and giving it a perfect 5 (I give 5 stars in this review for everything I’ve said above but it’s technically a 4.5). This game would be perfect if we could access all the story content in a solo route with one of the girls. Also solo routes could be more developed, with other girl’s reactions, jealousies, etc. Here’s my hint for the dev, not bashing or anything, just constructive criticism. and my personal opinion.

Nevertheless this game was definitely my best VN experience and I highly recommend everyone to try it!

Guess this is Y they say never judge a book by its cover. Let me be honest with u when I tried it for the 1st time I did not enjoy it at all & that is because of the 3D models, I found it off putting. So after a couple of days I decided to try it again & this time I'll focus more on the story & that my friend was the best decision. The game is hilarious & even though I found MC to be ugly at 1st later on I didn't mind that much. The story is pretty good & way better than most VN out there. The sex animations was smooth & beautiful. What I enjoyed the most was the music & sound effects which was near perfect as it rhymes perfectly with the atmosphere thus creating beautiful ambiance especially during horror & emotional scenes. Definitely worth your time

First review on this site. Didn't expect much going in, graphics aren't fantastic, generally prefer more sandbox gameplay than VN's, thought the MC looked weird.

And then halfway through jacking it, it makes me laugh out loud. Genuinely really chimed with the humour, which made all the failings fade to the background. Seriously, found myself super conflicted about whether to replay a scene for the tittilation, or carry on for the lols of the story.

The GOOD

Humor
Caribdis put in comedy in hentai so that you can laugh while fapping and no one outside will be able to figure out what you're really doing if not outright forget you're playing a hentai game. Both Incest and Non Incest game plays slightly differently so you should definitely try it as there are hidden gems in conversation there.

Story
It has a very good gameplay it tunes out on the current setting of the story, and has good if not outright great character motivation for what they do, and your ingame character also exist as a different entity rather than just blank slate we can put ourself into and that is actually great. YOU the player reacts to certain stuffs that would dictate what ending you do and how your in game character would react to said events some are humorous specially considering the characters do grow on you. Story has narrative believability.

Characters
Characters also have narrative believability, they are good if not outright great. Well I kindly like how flesh out the characters are and side characters actually mattering in the story. And also the Girls are, Thoughtful, Honest, Interesting, Caring, and Compassionate.

The BAD
Yes it is a GREAT Game but it also have negatives.

It's called Feelititis. It starts after you finish the game with leaking eyes and desiring for more CONTENT.

I'm a simple man, OVERALL 10/10 for me if you're reading this then you should definitely try it.

Honestly one of the best stories in general out of everything I've read or played in a long time. It's almost perfect in every aspect and had me in dread when I was nearing the end of the story.

The story is really engaging and is treated with respect from the writer which keeps it consistently great and cohesive for the whole playthrough. There isn't any moments where it feels like sexual content is awkwardly forced in and instead it all feels dynamic to the many situations they are put in.
So many great opportunities are taken to slot in humor though. The jokes come and go and back again at the perfect times in places where you wouldn't even expect and it's so damn good.

The gameplay follows a point system where if you pick a choice that the character in question likes, you get a point towards their route aka you are more likeable to them. Don't have enough points in their route, and you are not able to continue it. I would say this system is actually pretty great since it gives a clear notice to the player on how their choices are affecting the game but there are some choices which are not linked to the points system which do end up affecting the story later on and is sometimes not clearly stated (Gives a reason to replay through at least).

The characters are another big part of why I love this story so much. They really grew on me as the story progressed and by the end I was really attached to all of them. The main character is his own person and is funny a lot of the time, the girls are all very wholesomely loveable and unique from each other, even most of the other characters you meet are fun and have their own moments to shine which are usually hilarious. The models for the characters are also perfect.

Man even with the upcoming extra content coming in I feel like it won't be enough to fill the void in my heart after completing it. To anyone who reads this review, please give this game a try. And if you are reading this Caribdis, I wish you the best.

TLDR
This game is worth the try. I hope doing that makes you more invested in it that this wall of text.

I wanted to commend how much I really like this game, despite that it looks pretty simple at first glance its actually pretty interesting, I played it 2 times and it seems it has not much replay value but it was still fun to do so, the story is good for a hentai game too, even tho its a harem. I guess biggest value of this games comes from how well scenes were made, girls reactions and their face expressions. Despite it being a VN it hold its atmosphere very well, it has some spooky and several funny moments which were great. Only thing I felt missing from this game was a bit more interactivity with the girls I guess but its to be expected from VNs. Overall very pleasing experience for the whole family.

So, how do I best describe Once in a Lifetime?

It's honestly a tough question, but the best descriptor is probably "Wow". This game is absolutely amazing, and is undeniably one of the best adult games that I've ever played.

For Ren'py/VN's there are essentially three things that I find the most important:

1. The writing
   1. The Story
   2. The World
   3. Humor
2. Player agency
3. The Art.

So, let me take them in that order:
1: The Writing.

The writing is excellent in this game. It is clear that a very skilled author was at work for this game. That is especially true as the story is a quite long one, with several decision throughout it. Good writing is more than just grammar; it is a way to provide personality to the various characters, to underline the mood and to make the story interesting. This game did it all.

The game has a variety of characters which are all really nice. They have markedly different personalities, which helps to diversify them. You will have to get to know each of them before you can progress with them. Thus, this game evades some the rather anti-climatic points of so many other games where you essentially goes talk--> 2 options later --> fuck. Not here you don't, which is really cool. Furthermore, the agency of the other characters are respected, which is also really nice and a somewhat rare sight in adult games.

A coherent story is another important aspect of creating a great story. I've found many devs to struggle with this point, either trying to make something that is too big, or not adequately mapping what direction the game should take. That is not the case with this game. This game has a very coherent story, it progresses nicely, is well paced, and it makes sense where it is going.

The humor in this game is hilarious, so I thought I'd highlight it. I've rarely laughed as much playing a single-player game as I did with this one. There are so many moments where that are narrated in a perfect way - which at the same time is coupled neat with the visuals. As this is a spoiler free review, I can't make any examples.

The world too is coherent. The various characters has their own agendas, desires and opinions. While obviously the game is mostly about the main character, it is clear that the author put some thought into side-characters and the various women which means that they aren't just passive bystanders nor are they empty tools for the MC to fuck. Interestingly there are also male characters in this game, and unlike so many other adult games, they aren't one-sided depicted as evil/cruel etc. They also have their part of the story, and you get decide how to interact with them.

2. Player Agency.

This is another thing some devs struggle with. The more player agency, the more work, and the more complicated it becomes. The dev will therefor have to be a good writer to allow much player agency, otherwise the world will quickly become incoherent.
This game has a great amount of player agency. There are several choices that you can pick from, which all affects the game and the world. Not all choices are equally relevant, and yet you will keep seeing the effects of them.
Player agency in this game also dictates how you act towards the various love interests. I didn't pursue all of them, and so I do not know if you would have had to make some compromises here and there. In any case, it's great that you have a choice.

3. The Art

The art in this game is also really nice. Certainly, there is lots of materials to release your pressure by. What is even greater is that the game is also animated. This makes it even more interesting to watch the scenes. Many of them also have alternative angles to view them from. You will also sometimes have different options in terms of those scenes - for instance whether it should be a facial or inside etc. The only downside with the art I could think of, is that many of the women looks to have quite similar bodies. While they are beautiful, it wouldn't have hurt with a bit more difference.

As the reader of my review will probably have noticed, I put the most weight onto Story. That is not because the other parts are lackluster at all. But because great writing is what makes choices and the art that much better.

For those who do not want to read the whole thing, here's a short(er) version:

The Good:

• Amazing writing
• A capturing plot.
• Coherent story
• Hilarious humor - I honestly cannot remember when I laughed this much playing a game.
• Well thought-out world
• Choices matter - a lot.
• There is personality to the different characters, meaning that they are more than bland side-character fuck toys for the MC.

The In-between

• I find that most of the girls has somewhat the same body, which is a bit unfortunate. It would've been nice if there were a larger difference between their bodies.
• Pregnancy is not actually in the game, and is only hinted at. But I honestly found that it didn't matter too much.

The Bad:

• The very last part felt a bit rushed, it would've been nice to interact with the girls a tad bit more at the end, and hear their thoughts about various stuff.

I will just note that both those in In-between and Bad sections are very small "problems".

Conclusion: This is an amazing game. I quickly became invested in it, hell it wasn't even the beautiful art that drew me in the most. Instead I simply wanted to see the story progress and what would happen with the different characters.
So, if you want play a well-written game with loads of hours in it, then this is for you.

I've played quite a few porn games, but this one takes the cake as on of my favorites. It has a nice interesting story (which grasped my attention), great characters (all with unique personalities), and humor which actually made me laugh. Right now I'm tired so I can't recall all the good bits., but I have to say that you should give this game a try. If you enjoyed it as much as I did, follow the Dev and think about supporting him.

10/10 game. A prime example of hours of quality plot, humor, lovable characters, and great H-scenes. I'm a strong proponent of the phrase "the ending is paramount", and my god, the ending did not disappoint. I did not feel rushed and you could tell Caribdis out a lot of time and effort into creating this masterpiece. Can't wait for what comes next.

At first I thought it was your usual generic 'meet, corrupt , fuck and repeat' but it's something way better.

Story: The story doesn't seem that interesting at first however it slowly pulls in and before you know you get invested and actually care about the plot.

Sex scenes: The scenes are well made and slowly builds up, you aren't ramming their ass about 10 min into the game, you need to play quite a while to get to those scenes which helped me not to lose interest. it is a shame that the amount of sex scenes are quite scarce for me.

Humour: The humour in my opinion outshines everything. The jokes are actually funny and aren't obnoxiously overdone, the gag characters are amazing and hilarious, and the deadpan expressions are gold. I had a stupid grin on my face on so many scenes.

It's a great game however it could have more improvements like more sex scenes, better gallery or a way to track or redo certain points in paths/endings. Even though the amount of porn is lacking in my opinion, the quality and humour makes up for it. Can't wait for more content from the developer.

Edit: looking back on it the amount of sex scenes is not really lacking at all. Sure it's not filled to the brim like most other games but it has a decent amount of scenes. It's a bit of a shame that the mother doesn't feel fleshed out and like she really fit in there as the 2 sisters but just randomly comes in 'break' scenes when the they are gone.

This is one of the games where I wish I could give it 6 stars.

It makes me very happy when I find and finish a game like this when I've played tons of games before, it's like finding a diamond in a trash can. Everything was excellent. Really blew my expectations away. I don't play Honey Select games so my expectations were low but I'm really very glad I tried this one.

PROS:

• Writing: Very rare to find a game where I am actually interested in the plot and characters and not skipping dialogues.
• Humor: Actual funny stuff and not over the top cringy jokes.
• Characters: I love 'em all. From the LIs to the side characters, every single one of them. The characters have actual depth and don't feel like empty boxes. Stabby Mike is one of the best bro character I've seen.
• Love Interests: All of them unique and very likable, I don't always go for harem, but in this I just couldn't leave any of them behind
• Lewd Scenes: There are a lot of games where everything else is good but they suck when it comes to lewd stuff, but not this one. Full marks here too.

Coming to the cons, there were some minor things that I didn't liked as much as the other things I mentioned above but they are negligible compared to the the overall game.

Can't recommend this game enough. A MUST try for everyone.
Kudos to the dev, this is one of the finest games I've played here, a very easy entry to my TOP 5.

This game really came out of nowhere to me, and after finishing it, instantly gets a place in my "top 5 adult VNs of all time" list. The comedy was always on point for my tastes, the animations are good quality, the main characters are all interesting, and Stabby Mike might be the single best side character I've ever found in one of these games. Can't recommend this one enough, I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

If a game makes you care more for its characters and plot than the porn, you know something is right, and this game definitely delivers it, with everything, plot, comedy, it's just perfect, and the scenes are just top notch as well. You can tell that the devs really cared for every detail of this game, and it shows, they created an awesome adventure and I'm looking forward for the next.
