That's not entirely true. Passion Unleashed scales very well with Wits.
The current damage fornula is:
"$ dmg = round(lust/10 + totwits)"
But I'm thinking about updating it to something like this:
"$ dmg = round(lust/8 + totwits*lust/80)"
Yes, but also you get a massive boost to wits by just having the skill purchased.
In all the skill trees, buying any of the high cost skills can pretty much immediately make you jump 10-30+ skill points depending what it is, even if it's the only skill you've purchased in that tree.
So the skill's investment stat boost is effectively enough that it doesn't make much difference if you've been playing a "wit build" the whole playthrough or not.
More expensive skills essentially act as their own stat boost for scaling-
Since tree stat boosts are based on Mag invested and not independent stat increases-
For example Both Alchemy and Physical have a cap of about 11,100 Mag that can be invested across all abilities and their upgrades/side grades.
If you have the mag, you can skip most of the tree and just invest in something like Acid Flask or Final Toll if you want the utility/raw power, going with Acid Flask, the initial cost of 1,600 is about 14% of what the entire upgrade tree is worth and gives you an immediate boost of 17 Cunning and 17% crit chance, that's enough to cover about any cunning skill check in the game currently, since I'm about 50% through the game on my current save file, stacked with all the other passives you get given and cauldron upgrades, that one purchase brings my cunning from 14, which is fairly low, to 31, which is more than enough to keep up with anything in the game and my other stats.
In the final toll example those numbers go from 14% of the entire upgrade tree to 21% of the entire value of the skill tree boost, if you factor in the upgrade(s) for that which is 3200, that's 5,600 Mag investment, which is equivalent to 50% of the entire value of the skill tree investment bonus.
In terms of stats, the cost investment for skills, especially the more expensive they are, pays for it's own scaling, and if it doesn't you can always buy a few lower cost skills like barrier or such to bump up the scaling a bit more.
I'm not saying any of this is bad mind you, but the mid-late stage skills, or whatever your most expensive skill is, effectively sets the majority of your base stats to a point that skill's stat investment will scale it as needed, so it's better to just think of what gives the best scaling or utility in most cases.
Which right now, passion probably has the best scaling of anything in the game by default, since it scales based on lust, and also gives lust, even going way above 100%, and if you buy focus, and especially if you Focus A: Clarity, you can effectively spam passion to ramp up your damage indefinitely until your next sex scene with no draw backs.
Plus you can even do simulator fights to increase your lust before you do any patrols, since using passion in sim fights increases your lust, which carries over to actual fights, which again, as long as you have Focus active, has no penalty for being over 100%, so-
The main character basically becomes a potentially infinite damage machine, with nearly endless MP Regen, or at least enough to get multiple casts off-
Who can defeat anything with the power of an erection that lasts more than 48 hours.
