Alright, after dedicating several hours to it and achieving 100% completion, I have to say it — I absolutely loved the game. I don’t fully master the English language, so I’m really thankful I found a Spanish patch that allowed me to play and fully enjoy the story. It has a few things here and there that could be improved, like how there’s no context as to why the protagonist's three companions aren’t controllable alongside him — they just like the guy and that’s it? Anyway, because of that, Number 78 ended up being my favorite character so far at the time of writing this. She has context, backstory, and she knows how to fight back.
Chapter 2 was insane. I did miss having a minigame or two amidst all the dialogue — nothing complex, just something to break the monotony of certain situations. Even something as simple as a basic battle mechanic or a puzzle would add a lot. That said, I haven’t seen this much love for a series since I played Akabur’s games (that guy’s a legend) or Mity’s (mainly for his flagship Avatar game). The creators took the time not just to design characters, backgrounds, and weapons in a style very true to the original series, but they even included a few video clips (and animating is no joke — I tried it once and it’s not for everyone). There's also a bonus section where you can view all the unlocked content, including music, and even some concept art not in the final version of the game so we can either get a sneak peek of what’s coming or just enjoy some fun extras.
As a fan of KND and everything the show was back in the day — and its legacy — I have to say the game is a treat. If you came looking for something strictly +18, you might be a bit disappointed, but if you give it a shot, you’ll be surprised by a story that, while not super complex, leaves you wanting to know more — more about the characters, and where the conflict is heading (with a few spicy touches along the way).
It was a great move to use lesser-known characters from the show, even creating some new ones, and of course, setting the story after the events of the original series. Hahaha, the references on TV or in some characters from back then — God, I laughed so hard. But if there was one detail that knocked it out of the park, it was little “Laura Limpin” in her JoJo-style form — I was dying laughing, hahahaha.
Anyway… I hope my review helps more people give the project a chance and support it in any way — by sharing or simply talking about it.
Until the next update
