After trying "The Monastery", which was made by the same developer, I picked up this game with a lot of interest, hoping for a similar level of quality. Also, I was drawn to the fact that it was a completed project, which is rare for indie porn games.
Were my expectations met? Sadly, no. The game let me down. It's not objectively bad, but I don't think it deserves high marks. Here's why:
1. The story. The plot turned out to be pretty bland and boring. In "Monastery," the story wasn't great either, but it had a unique style and atmosphere that kept you engaged. That's not the case here. There's a lot of text, but it's all just water; it could easily be cut in half and nothing would be lost.
2. The soundtrack - the problem is that there's almost none. No background music to set the mood, no music at key moments in the game. You play in complete silence, which ruins the whole atmosphere. That kind of thing would be understandable in a six-year-old game, but not a 2023 release.
3. The gameplay - this is related to the soundtrack, but I'll talk about it separately. There's no actual gameplay here. All you do is click on places at different times of day, and any necessary actions or characters are highlighted with colors and icons. There's no management, no feeling of choice or engagement. That linearity (it's like a visual novel) might be justified by the strong plot and world, but sadly, that's not the case here.
Despite being a bit disappointed, I have to say that the developer did do a good job with the bugs in this game. They took all those flaws into account and addressed them in their next game, " The Monastery". That shows they really know how to learn from feedback, which is awesome!
All in all, this game should be seen as a work in progress by a talented newbie who's trying hard to make something great - "The Monastery." You could play it out of curiosity, but it probably won't be as enjoyable as other games in the genre. Compared to the competition, it's a solid but not standout average.
