Unreal Engine - PASEC [v2.1.4] [Star vs Fallout]

I am going to start off by mentioning what most mention, The art is good and a very consistent artstyle at that.
It has a bit of variety going in it's enemy roster however you'll likely find the definitely not F4 mirelurks the most common along with the slugs.
For context this is on 2.1.2

Here's all the bad thing's however, because there is as mentioned by just about everyone a lot of that.
Firstly, I am in general not a fan of these JP game RPG maker style menus that has you navigate through menus with the movement keys instead of just letting me click things, especially when you have quite a few thing's going on there.

There are also a buncha things in menus that are never explained (which honestly the game barely explains much of anything beyond telling you the controls), There seems to be a mechanic for base raids and upgrades to facilities but my power was always at -4 so either this doesn't exist yet or is bugged.

I don't know why but to shoot you first need to press A to raise your gun and then use D to shoot otherwise you melee, instead of just having one button shoot and the other be melee. There is a bit of a delay between raising your weapon and shooting (you'll just melee in this period which cancels out the weapon raise) this can get hairy when the game suddenly spawns waves you have to defeat in tight corridors, which doesn't help that enemies can VERY easily stun lock you, Felt this pretty hard in the police station.

Randomly doors will stop having power in the day even though you've enabled all generators on the map which hadn't softlocked me but you reload a save and the doors all function fine again.

There's a status face in the top left which doesn't actually update unless you reload a save.

Speaking of softlocking, if you get captured very early and you are brought to engineering, good luck grinding out mobs to get 3 AP points so you can finally hack the terminals to get out, yes portions of the game are locked behind a skill and grinding is fairly slow, even though the game itself isn't entirely all that long.

When talking to NPCs a lot of dialogue options simply bug out and cancel the dialogue, a lot of the interaction indicators can be really finnicky to use and the T to talk thing often well doesn't work even when it does show up.

The last big one i had was that i saved my game and my entire explorer.exe just ceased working and i had to force restart my PC, that was cool i guess.

You also seem to have statuses that seemingly don't actually do anything?

great concept, nice visuals. but bugs(not the advertised ones) are getting out of hand. game can randomly completely break, corrupting the save and/or never launch again without reinstall or some woodoo bullshit done to your system.

For now, the game has way too many bugs. I had to restart three times because I fell into the void, the keycard doesn’t appear, and the doors won’t open even after turning on all the generators. The gameplay is good, but these issues make the experience frustrating and almost impossible to progress. Hopefully, the developers release an update soon to fix these problems, because it has potential, but in its current state, it’s unplayable.

artstyle, animation are what carries this one.
Game is buggy in more ways then one despite attempts to squish them. Granted, things have improved greatly from the beginning where launching the game and starting it was faced with countless bugs. If things keeps going the way they've been stability overall should keep getting better.

For better or worse the game is evolving into something more then a simple side scroller. I personally don't like the addition of bloat since it detracts from it's main purpose, adds branching vectors that makes it difficult to appreciate the main reason your here. The adult content.

Been going through the game for over an hour now. Really enjoy the pixel art and the animations. Def has put some work into this game.

I see a lot of comments and reviews with issues but am confused as I have yet to encounter any of them myself:
-The map is fine, had no issues getting where I needed to go.
    -Controls are fine.
Either the dev has improved these and/or its just a skill issue problem with the commenter. Some comments are recent so I guess it is a skill issue with some.

As for the technical issues people are having: I currently have seen 0 bugs myself(As in glitches, you fight off a ton of bugs :p). Though I personally spent a lot of time exploring and have currently only beaten what seems like the first boss encounter. Though it takes several missions to get there and none of them bugged out for me.

However, there is a survivor system I have yet to get to that could potentially have bugs... maybe? The comments and reviews are definitely seeming exaggerated to me. Game is pretty solid for being a WiP game so far.

If this game seems up your alley, def give it a try yourself to see what you think.

Why the hell is this game low rated!?
The author is constantly improving it, and it's a great platformer and great animations.
I don't like the recent start as much as the previous one, but I am sure the author will continue making it better.
The game is great, once the updates are fin, I think this would be a top tier pixel h-game!

A game that evolves and improves with every new feature and content addition, and bugs are fixed collaboratively. The developer collects all bug reports on Discord and fixes the game, albeit slowly, but doing everything necessary. The main thing is to report a bug if you find one, and everything will be great. =^^=

The art is nice and the animations are fluid, the only reason it's not 5 stars is because of the ammount of bugs and issues i've encountered while playing the game, hopefully they are fixed in a later update

I think this has come a long way and that the game designer isn't getting as much credit as it should. I think the gameplay could use tweaks like struggle animations that are a bit more like Forest of the Blue Skin and Mystic Knight Maya, which go through a process before eventually dying as opposed to the knockdown scheme. That way the player basically has the animation happen as soon as they get touched (perhaps making it a knockdown with the smallest enemies, which would make sense).

Other than that, I'm curious what direction this is going to go in. Keep on chugging. I'd love to see where you go to!

So in 30min of "playing" (struggling with controls, what even is this layout...) I've:
    • Fallen through the map, twice (went to a dark corner that wasn't a corner and just walked off into the void lmao)
    • Got stuck in some breeding room where I "saved" some chick with a gun and blue suit - but now since she follows me, I can't E on doors => can't repair door to get out => stuck in room forever
    • Got stuck "repairing" some workbench (??) which wanted 1 "Wrench" item, which is different from the 100s of "Wrench" drops you get from lockers for example. I pressed "E" => Repair and couldn't do anything anymore
Both my runs I got completely lost, I have no idea where to go, what to do, I assume the objective is to repair the ship(?) but I guess it's a very open game(?).

Biggest, main gripe, is that the game is DARK. REALLY DARK.
    Can developers decide, please?
    • Make a non-H game that's dark
    • Make an H-game that you can see the sexy times
    • Make an H-game that's dark but you can "light up" with a button to see the sexy times, or the game "spotlights" the sexy times automatically
Pick one, please, for the love of horny.

I get no value trying to squint at my screen to see some amorphous black pixelated mess "moving" and hearing random moans.

Other messy stuff that's just bad:
    • I-frames after getting hit - hahahahahaha no
    • Mouse? For menus at least? - NO
    • The torch is... why is there a torch? It has the lighting capacity of a lighter. No, seriously, why?
    • Melee stuns enemies so you can melee them to death since ammo is rare? - NO, they will get melee'd then just whack you on your ass, prepare your anus
    • What does hunger do? - Fuck if I know, 0 clue
    • What does sleep do? - No idea either, but a small green worm molested the chick in bed (which you can't see, it's under the sheets).
    • Map is... atrocious
    • You can M (map) AND Tab (Inventory) at the same time = enjoy
    • "D" according to the manual is for Dodge. "D" is Melee. How the fuck do I dodge with the melee button, game? She doesn't jump back after melee'ing, so I have no idea
    • What's the point of crawling (S + <-/->)? I doesn't appear to give stealth. I've not found anything to crawl through. Soooo... why?
    • On that note, what's the point of jumping??? Same deal as crawling, no use that I found. It just drains energy.
    Really, really rough :(.

It seems OK gameplay wise and I didn't encounter too many bugs(from the code that is ;p).

However that might be because I had to quit after only a few minutes because the game was just way too dark to play and I got a headache from squinting so much trying to see what was going on.
And as there are no options in the game to adjust brightness the only option would be to adjust it on my monitor, which I do not want to do just for a single game when I have it just right otherwise.

My recommendation would be to either add an option to adjust brightness or add a way to gets some more lights working way sooner. Like in the first couple of minutes at most.

I will keep an eye on it and if there is something to address this I will probably give it an other try for a more complete review.

    reaver34

here my review of this game.

you'll be spending more time fighting the bugs in the code than the one in the game.

    -survivors getting stuck after rescue
-survivor following youwhen you ask them to stay in a safehouse
-the only indication you get is a tiny blip on a map on which you can zoom
as to how you are supposed to navigate that map, good luck figuring that shit out. enjoy finding locked elevators and fucking shipment container in the middle of corridors.
"you can unlock skill to open some doors", yeah, once you're past lvl 3 you'll need to terminator the fucking station 3 time over to get a level up to unlock these skills.

weapons are bugged if you upgrade them to max, but don't worry they function perfectly if you don't upgrade them, however, hit detection doesn't work always, enjoy emptying mags into ennemies that do not take damages.

you need food, for what reason? don't know, don't care.
you need sleep, for what reason? so that a bug can slip in your bed and preggo you without a chance to resist.
"you can sleep in a safehouse, that also remove the death mark to avoid game overs". there's 3 safe houses, 2 you cant access because locked doors, and the one you can access is on the most remote part of the map, which one is it? figure that shit out boy, hope you enjoy getting lost buddy.

the interface, enable mouse control for the interface already.

im salty because it looks good but it is a waste of time.
    the level design Sucks,
the combat sucks,as soon as something graze you, you fall over and fingerbang your keyboard to avoid loosing, over and over because there's no grace period after escaping.
the direction and objective sucks, you'll be spending you time looking for a way to get where you need to look for something without any idea as to what it is you're looking for.

honestly, the game have potential, here's tip, stop jerking off by making porn animations for a while, and fix everything that doesn't work, once your gameplay loop is working properly, add porn. there's no point having porn if you can't enjoy it because the rest of the game is completely broken.

Unfortunately this game is a janky, barely functioning, buggy mess.

You cannot progress 5 minutes through it without encountering a bug and I do not mean the things that attack you.

It's been in development for quite a while now, but I fail to see any progression in ironing out any of the existing bugs, more the opposite.
    More bugs are being added.

Please steer clear. It's not worth your time.

the game is practically unplayable. there is no actual guideline what buttons to press for any sort of actions , no info how to play and no proper control settings. how are you supposed to play it without any guide ?

This review is created as for v.1.81
    TLDR:
At current state of game, the Developer KNOW how to create an "interesting" game, but cannot develop the code well.
If you just looking for the pixel sex, i guess visiting their pixiv just faster.
If you want to play just because gameplay, just wait until developer untangle their mess, stuffs still breaking. But i wont stop you if you really want, tho; It just more frustrating right now.

For developer: With this mess on the code, I'm pretty surprised this is called 1.81 rather than 0.81, but keep it up, developer. There is potent, just need a DAMN lot of code cleaning.

    [Graphic Aspect]
    - Pixel, very tricky to work around, very amazing if executed well.
    - Environment graphic is pretty good, some interactable stuff having weird heavily blurry stuff. Some part is absolutely too dark.
    - Character (the sprite) is good, but there is a lot room of improvement
Acceptable, but have a lot of room to improve

    [Gameplay Aspect]
    - Gameplay, by design, isnt too hard, the only thing make this game hard is the wacky combat.
    - Control movement is acceptable, although you can do some fun stuff with jump and colliding with the alien on right timing.
    - Hoping for god mode on option? there is, but, too bad. I meant, there is a kind guy sharing a cheat table for this game.
    - Option button on mid-play? the only option there is "Nuke the game"
    - Melee is beyond-the-line definition of shit, inconsistent cooldown, you cannot repeat melee until the animation entirely done and... some more cooldown, for some reason the range is extremely short but if you get too close to enemy, you will facing the other way and gets fucked up.
    - Gun is for big guy, dont waste it on larvae (most likely you will miss)
    - Yes, there are save point, where? the standing telephone. How to find that? Good luck.

    [Porn Aspect]
    - !!UNCLEAR INSTRUCTION!! on how to unlock the scene. "See more than once" WHAT?? Sex/Struggle? Game Over Screen? See that guy die? Literally see that guy? For some reason i get Roach scene and not Tentacle guy despite being repeating getting on Sex Struggle and Game Over Screen
    - Animation is kinda slow, but its alright, there is no way to skip if on defeat sex (not gameover screen).

    Arlith

Incredible, beautiful pixel art. Animated too.
Also has actual game mechanics, not just of the H variant, but it's also a legitimate survival horror. The space station gets gradually more corrupted as the days go by, with new enemies spawning. The enemies are tough and horny, and the game even comes with a pretty detailed pregnancy system, including birth.
It's a little rough around the edges, but it's also still in development. So it gets 5 stars for ambition and that gorgeous art.
  17. 1.00 star(s)

    Fruitofgrape

Tldr: Good art, terrible design, buggier than bethesda, gamebreaking bugs the norm.

It's the type of game that would be wonderful if only it actually just worked. The general consensus is that using the in built cheats should just be the default for every playthrough due to the sheer frustration of the gameplay loop.

    DeltaBoi679

Great game Concept. Thats it. That's all. A Concept. This game needs SERIOUS overhaul. Enemies are so strong, so numerous, so fast in their attacks that you can play on Invincible Mode with Infinite Ammo on Easy Difficulty and still get beaten, stuck in an endless knockdown animation loop.
Like its not even funny how absolutely horrid the game play is, which is an extreme shame as I said, the concept is amazing. But executed just wrong.

If you believe in redemption and change, save this game as it could potentially be an incredible thing, maybe even a masterpiece. If not, don't even bother downloading. Unless you want to see which breaks first; your low end PC or your sanity.

I have very mixed feelings on this project.

On the one hand, this fits the survival horror/space sci-fi horror monster battlefuck niche of games i enjoy. The scenario, animations, art design and even soundtrack are pretty neat.
(Comparison: Breed Laboratory, Bioasshard, Project:Elimination/Rogue Protocol, Infection Lab)
I *really* dig what the dev is putting down and I can see this going the way of Breed Laboratory where for all its rough edges, it pulls off something unique to itself in terms of lewd-factor, horror, and scenario.

On the other, much more important, hand:
This game is buggy as fuck.
    Like, intolerably so.

I think the creator has potential and even their recent posts teasing a cute portrait system would be awesome.

HOWEVER, I think their priority, first and foremost, is to clean their spaghetti code and build a log of all the bugs that can happen. Q/A stuff, because for all the changes and additions I do like
(see: more battle-fuck animations instead of pure game-over animations, focus on survival elements and environmental corruption system, the possibility of cute portrait version of protag in-game)
    there's a new tangle of things I don't
(see: constant softlocks, UX bugs in the main menu, getting stuck in the gallery selection menu, softlocked on "continue" option as no hud appears, elevators lagging out my fairly high-end laptop, just to name a few bugs)

I hope the developer finds a way to polish the technical side of their game because this may be a genuine survival-horror battle-fuck hentai-game gem, buried under all the glitches and soft-locks.

This game has a lot of promise and is slowly building out to be great. Very good animations, good variety, and just a hot scenario alltogether. When this game is finished, It'll probably be one of my top porn games. It's already something I keep going back to, even before it's done.
