Patreon and Incest Patch

I've been thinking about adding incest content to my upcoming game, mainly because I've noticed that many popular games feature it. It seems to be one of the most favored genres. However, as you know, Patreon has strict policies against this type of content.

Now, I know this question has been asked before, and the general consensus is that it's strictly forbidden and that game owners will get banned if reported. But when I look at the list of the top-grossing adult games on Graphtreon, I see that the top game (Summertime Saga) contains incest content. Other games might have slipped through the cracks, but I don't think the highest-grossing game in this category would have gone unnoticed. Milfy City is also high up on the list.

So, this brings me to my question. If someone else (preferably an admin) posts my game, and I use terms like 'landlady' or 'roommate' in the original content, would I be safe if a "fan" later creates an incest patch and uploads it to the game's post? Or is this not a foolproof solution, and are games like Summertime Saga, Milfy City, and hundreds of others still at risk?

summertime saga incest was stripped out among one of the very first around 2018 or whatever the year was when the crackdown began. it also lost bunch of sleep rape scenes, maybe other stuff too but it's been too long to remember.

the ones that haven't been burned yet have been just lucky. it only takes one pissed off guy to report you. maybe you put ntr in there, or maybe you left ntr out, anything can make little shits report you. there is no magic bullet, any incest game can burn any day.

I don't think any game is hated as much as milfy city. yet the patreon page is still standing. Anyway, I guess the sensible thing is to stay away from incestuous content.

milfy city also has a patch. can't remember if he removed incest voluntarily or after patreon shut him down.

Incest is already against the rules for Subscribestar --- it's just that it does not enforce the rules like Patreon does... at this time. But if it were pressed by economic or other forces, a lot of developers would find themselves SOL.

Developers should be fully aware of this with whatever decisions they make - for short term and/or long term development.

Pretty sure you cannot be held responsible for a 'fan' patch inasumch as it does not trace back to you..

Got to think that P (and SS) are fully aware of the landlady/roomate content and let it pass because (currently at least) their arses are well enough covered. What the future brings, who knows. But chances are that they would give you the option to remove any offending content and then restore your page so that they can contiue to profit from your endeavours.

Based on the overall responsiveness of their employees, SubscribeStar will probably always be safe.

they probably don't enforce the rules to attract developers who make hardcore games. i'm sure one day if they get as big as patreon they'll enforce the rules too.

I think the more platforms you promote your game on the better. I think ss will be used anyway.

Peace of mind is worth a lot. You don't want to lose sleep in worry that you'll wake up and find your page gone. Though I think Patreon has lately been giving the devs time to correct issues before total ban.

well, if I make a game that reflects me, it won't be incestuous, because I don't have those fantasies in real life. but most people don't even look at games that don't have incest. that's why I feel like I should add it.

Where are you getting your data from? BaDIK is one of, if not, the biggest games on the site and it has no incest.

there are a few exceptions like badik but most of the popular games have incest tags. also almost every new game title has people asking if there will be incest content.

There's also people asking for NTR on every new game title as well. Maybe you should include that as well

i would say create the story/game you originally wanted and don't be concerned with the popular tags unless its really something you want to add its your story to tell after all but a way around the no incest policy's would be to input the option for the player to define relations in the game at start-up and make the default relations have nothing to do with incest.
