I'm a big fan of corruption games (as might be evident from my profile pic), games where the main female character starts out being pure and virginal, then gradually becomes more and sexual. I'm currently dabbling in developing a corruption game of my own (a stat-grinding type of corruption game with a focus on skill checks and making your own story, rather than narrative and scripted dialogue). Being on the other side of it has made me think more about the motivating factors someone might have for making such a significant change in their lifestyle and behavior. Obviously a game like Witch Trainer isn't going for a realistic simulation vibe, so it can use a silly excuse like Hermione wanting more house points. A lot of other games use money as an impetus to get into sex work, which is kinda where my game started out. But if the character is transitioning into sexuality gradually, that means there are some things they're saying "no" to at the beginning, some lines they aren't willing to cross yet. It's not like they say "oh well, I'm a prostitute now" and go straight to fucking every random stranger who will pay them. So money is a partial motivator for them, but not sufficient in itself to explain the gradual movement of her sexual boundaries.
Of course, you could just say the amount of money she needs to make is also increasing at a similar gradual rate, but I feel like that would make things too rigid and narrow. If she needs to make $200 this week (which would've been hard last week, based on her comfort level with sexual acts), then either she gets to exactly $200.00 and stops doing things that make her uncomfortable, or she doesn't get to $200 at all because the things make her uncomfortable (at which point it's either a game over or the money is an empty threat), or she gets to $200 and keeps going, because there's some other reason she has for trying to become more sexual.
I'm interested in hearing what other people (especially fans of the genre) think that third option should be. If a woman says "I'm not comfortable with my body or my sexuality now, but I want to eventually reach a place where I could have meaningless sex with random strangers and not feel any guilt or shame," what would be the motivation or impetus to make her go down that path? Or am I overthinking it and I should just stick with the money? I'm not really trying to make it a deeply complex psychological simulation, but I want to at least try to build on some semblance of realism and natural human behavior in case I try to work more story into it later.
A related question, do you think the implication in most corruption games is that the woman who's being corrupted was always secretly a horny slut deep down inside, and the money (or whatever else) just brought out what was already there? Because if someone legitimately doesn't enjoy nudity or sex, needing money isn't gonna change that. She might try really hard to make her money some other way, or she might make her money through sex work and just always be miserable. So I feel like there are two related but distinct motivations that need to be addressed; what makes her do the sexual things she had no interest in before, and what makes her actually start to enjoy them?
