Ren'Py - Completed - Personal Trainer [v1.1.2] [Domiek]

This is very much a game that could have been great. The storyline is average, but not bad. The gameplay is average, grindy, but not bad per se, and the women encountered are a nice mix.
However, this game drops the ball on several critical points: The attempted humour isn't funny, and this really detracts a lot. Too many scenes depends on not-funny premises, subtracting from the interest in playing past it. Humour is off course subjective, and if you find dickgirls and the classic 'oops, I accidently grapped your dick while falling'-scene funny, then add 2 stars.
The whole premise of the game falls short as well. Our MC pretends to be gay in order to get a job at an women-only gym, and everybody goes along with this. For me, games should either have a somewhat believable story, or just abandon all attempts. This game falls between 2 chairs, and this subtracts from the overall impression as well.

This is a pretty good game. The writing is great. The story gives attention to each LI which adds much more character development that most AVNs. I think one of the LIs (Amy) is an older version of Sage from another well known AVN, so props for that. The animations are a little better than average. The endings are kinda flat, but at least they are there.

Wow, what a dogwater experience.
- Dogshit animations, sometimes entire scene is static except for a few pixels
- Dogshit gameplay, just removing grind DOES NOT make your sandbox automatically good
- Dogshit character development, the way you progress your relationships leaves a lot to be desired
- Even more dogshit endings to those relationships. Pretty sure they couldn't have been handled worse that this. All of them are unimpactful and make you feel like you've accomplished absolutely nothing
- Dialogue is "funny", most jokes are appropriate and some are even good, but anything remotely serious falls flat on it's face.
Don't fall for good reviews and don't waste time on this slop.

I didn't like the old version of this game at all. I completed it back in the day, but I wasn't a fan of the sandbox, I wasn't a fan of some of the girls' looks, and I definitely wasn't a fan of the half-baked stories and absent endings or even scenes for most of the female cast, especially Dani.

I have just finished playing the remake, and unfortunately I'm still not fond of it at all.
There have been a bunch of quality-of-life improvements, better UI, "endings" for everyone, etc.
But I still don't like it.

- The "Monkey", Amy and Dani are gorgeous, but I still find the rest of the cast unattractive or downright gross.
- I can't tell if some of the art was improved or not, but in any case it still looks way worse than the dev's more recent game.
- The sandbox is still not ideal, but that's par for the course.
- The music is a repetitive loop of several tracks completely unrelated to what we are seeing on screen. Really weak for a remake.
- The "endings" are... endings I guess.
- The fact that Dani only had one quick scene, right at the very end, with one position where we can barely see her, was a huge disappointment for me. Honestly, I expected way more when I learned there was going to be a remake. Sophie and she were my favourite combining both looks and story (Amy is sexy, but the whole "let's cuck your husband" and "you are a worthless slut" plot is not my thing). Sophie got a lot of intimate and romantic scenes, but Dani got even less substantial content than many of the other girls.

The game doesn't deserve a Fail; it's a decent product with some potential audience, and the humour is refreshing, but I'm unable to put it in the group of the good games that we can find on this site.

Overall very enjoyable and makes me wonder how some of these games that don't come close have higher ratings.

It was a great game, go play it if you are hesitant wether or not to do it.

Gameplay is simple, sandox with a section that tells you were to be for an event to happen, it's not bad, but sometimes i wished that i could know where to go and when without cheking it the whole time.
There's no grinding so that's a plus, and there are random events that happen in different places randomly so it incetivates you to roam a bit.

The characters story's are great, and so are the renders. It's one of those games where you can actually care about a character and can easily tell them apart.

There are only a few animations and some of them are... not the best.

But overall it's a great game, some things felt rushed and I think that if it had an update or two it could easily be a 5 /5 stars

- There is no main story, instead, there's a storyline for every main girl. Sadly, It feels as if 5 out of the 9 endings were rushed, this was kind of a letdown, but still, it was fun.
- Most of the girls were interesting, specially, Sophie, Jenna, Mayan and Amy.
- Music is not bad.
- I like playing a Sandbox (and freeroaming) from time to time. It gives a sense of freedom that normal VNs lack. So this was a + for me.
- Renders were good.
- Animations were a bit clumsy at times, but, I prefer this to nothing.
Overall it was entertaining , not a masterpiece, but still enjoyable. The game is not unnecesarily long which was good. So I'd give it a 7/10.

Duration is satisfactory, animations are really well made - and about the genres? Well it's got something for every taste!
Oh, by the way, the music is fantastic! Fits like a glove to this game!

I'd say it's was quite a unique and pleasant experience in general.

The game is stuffed with jokes, memes, advertising slogans, parodies... and dialogues of course - hilarious.

There is a great variety of LIs, also good body diversity, meaning - not all the LIs are supermodels or smth. I'd say - girls have believable body shapes more or less.

The game is a sandbox, there is almost no grinding, also navigation map and hints in characters block makes it very easy to play.
Sometimes though game lacks some consistency (as expected from a sandbox) - when you jump from one event to another, characters speak like previous event happened days/weeks ago even though you finished it yesterday.

As for some fetishes - you can avoid dick girl, though you have to go through some lesbian stuff in order to proceed with some of the Lis.

Out of 9 routes I like the most Sophie, Amy and Dani.
Sophie' path is done very well, good chemistry between characters, they calling each other names and stuff... and just hanging out - looks so natural.

What I found mostly unsatisfying - endings. It's subjective of course though.

The only decent ending was with Sophie, it was short but good. When she decided to stay with MC instead of leaving - it was very touching.

I expected much more from Amy's ending (I am talking about the one where her hubby went to jail) - expected smth more serious, especially considering that MC became a dad.

Ending with Dani, hmm, I dunno why, but I expected it to be somehow more romantic. But that's me.

Forgot to mention - the game has amazing music, some of tracks are in my collection already on youtube.

In general - recommend playing.

I'm not usually fond of sandbox games, but this one wasn't grindy, so it was okay.
Quite the variety of stories and girls with which to have fun. Everything from the redhead milf to the buff fighter.
Definitely worth a try.

one thing that I liked though was how despite the game being sandbox, there was almost no grind. this game could have been very good but I really felt like the story arcs of each girl were pretty rushed; like each girl should have at least 1.5x more character events for them to be compelling.

Criminally underrated game. 100% finished it.

This is as peak adult games as you can get. It is not too serious, not too story focused, the adult part is the focus. Not to say that there is no story, if anything I really enjoyed it. There were some i guess "deeper" stuff (more brutal) mostly in the epilogues, but overall it is pretty lighthearted. When you are playing an adult game that is exactly what you want. This is an adult game with some additional story, character development, comedy, etc. Not a story game with one or two scenes every two hours. This is the one game that actually made me laugh out loud multiple times, dev is a fucking comedian.

This is not a kinetic novel (thankfully) and the sandbox gameplay is great. You choose which girl you want to focus on. One very big bonus is the background characters, dev did a great job with this. It is great how the gym changes as you progress through the game, gets more "open" (as in more nude girls). Every location is great, you never feel like you go somewhere and it is empty and useless. As i said, it is primarily an adult game which means that the mentality in the world is different, the norms seems kind of the same (regarding the comments of certain characters) but you can go, for example, to an arcade and see girls flashing, banging, that sort of thing. It has the atmosphere that you want and expect of adult games.

A lot of people reviewing talk about lacking "story" and stuff. You, the person reading the review, have to decide what you are looking for in a game. Is it an emotional story, or is it adult content? I know that if I want a good story I will read a bestseller book, watch a critically-acclaimed movie, read some top-tier manga, play games that did millions in sales. If I want adult content, I will play a game such as this. I have to admit that I played some adult games where the story was superb, but those are extremely rare and far in between. You cannot honestly expect some random dude to be programming the game, making renders, perhaps making music, writing all the dialogue, doing PR work, and on top of everything still deliver a world-class story. What really matters is the vision, and it should be attainable to one person. Considering all that I said, I consider this game to be perfect.

Huge respect to the developer. The game was obviously made with a lot of love, a ton of effort went into this game, it is polished to perfection. It has the kind of quality you rarely see in adult games. Dev, if you read this, I want to remind you that you cannot satisfy everyone and that there are people who love what you create so keep at it.

Wow, this game did something really unexpected around here. The author took what you can call a complete game because it was checking everything (story, bugs, amount of content) and polished it.

I am giving it a 4/5 not because it’s the perfect game for me but because its very well done and a rounded experience

+Very good interface everything in one map where you can trace NPCs, and good simple navigation around interiors. That’s amazing compared with a lot of games where you need to walk to the street from there to corner and take the metro to reach another street to drink a coffee and have a small interaction and then go backpedal everything and go to sleep

+/-Too much body diversity: I’m not against it but ehhhhh most games try to cover a fetish for a good reason and that is because you are searching for something that checks for you. Here you have giant, mature, hulk and basically granny. If you are into everything then is a positive for the game.

-Game lacks deep content: the content is good with a little variety but most characters lack that final content you reach an emotional connection fuck a little and that was the end, very anti climatic

Should I make a short review for this one? I’m not sure because I want to talk a lot about this game but I also have no idea what do I need to say here. Whatever, I will write anything I can gather on my brain.

Okay so, this game is almost 7 years old and the creator managed to remastering it (thumbs up from me). It’s a sandbox game, some people don’t like it but I do because I like its UI. Very cool, clean, and not confusing. Personal Trainer has 9 girls that you can approach with unique stories behind them. Some of them are fine, some of them are pretty depressing, and the other is wholesome. If I did it correctly, some of the girls have a singular ending, and the others have different endings depending on your choices.

From every girls I’ve went through with them, Sophie is the only one that I can care about. Her story is pretty sweet, she’s the cousin of the MC (yeah I know it’s incest). But the love between her and MC is genuine, unlike other girls where the MC manipulated/forced them to do this and that to fill MC’s sex urges. I like the way he and Sophie calling each other with animals’ names, it’s cute. I almost felt sad In the end because Sophie had to leave him alone again because she got work in another state, miles away from home. Dude got depressed afterward. But if you play your cards right, you could get a happy ending for it.

One more thing, every music in this game are made by the creator himself. So, another thumbs up for him? Ha, I guess. Anyway, it’s a good game, one of my guilty pleasures. It’s a good game in my book, but sadly it isn’t perfect.

I think that’s it, I don’t have much to say anymore.

QR: A straightforward game with good renders, ok animations and a fun story although simple and at a bit rushed with a nice cast of girls.

Now, I really like the idea of having a music player to change the music yourself, it fits the gym theme and all, but sometimes I felt like the more serius scens could use a different song, but I didn't bother me that much. The way you progress is very simple, you have to be in the right place and the scene happens, or just use the interact botton for the special ones, that's very nice, sometimes you don't want to grind, just to enjoy the story of the girl of your choosing, that's why I don't enjoy kinetic novels that much. But in order to advance the story, for example, Amy, you have to do the others, it's similiar for other characters, that's not bad and even helps to enjoy more of the game and not get vision tunnel on one girl and burn out of the game. Specialy when some of the stories feel kind of short, maybe I like longer (hehe) stories, but I would've a more fleshed out story for Amy, Jenna or Maria, something similar to Sophie. Also the tow receptionist girls whose names I dont remember were kind of meh to me story wise. You're not going to get a bug romance for most of the girls, maybe Sophie, but I felt good and enjoyed what there is.
It's important to understand that the animations and renders for today's standards aren't the best, but compared to others with the same conditions PT is good enough.

I played this game before the remake and now replayed it, although the game is better its still okay to decent at it best.

Pros:
Some models are nice and their development is cool to follow.
Repeatable events added
Good amount of content
Sophie's story was long and more fleshed out than before.

Cons:
My main complaint with the game is the open world is still really not that necessary and tends to be tedious summing into nothing more than just checking where and when the next event with the character you want to advance with is. The next point I'd like to add is that some of these models are not attractive and you are forced to progress with them to continue the story of others. The renders are okay and even the new added ones weren't great sometimes and looked quite rushed. One thing that continues even in the new renders is that the size of the MC's dick continuously changes, its quite jarring. The endings added were nice, but really quick and for some added so little that its like why even bother.

Its not terrible, I was disappointed with the rework and kind of just happy Dominek will go back to working on his newer game.

The game totes a lack of grinding and y'know, that's neat, but that's only part of the problem I have with sandbox games. The other, as have said in many other reviews at this point, is that all the sandbox features really serve to do is pad your games runtime by adding a lot of pointless clicking about.

Having a map and needing to consider time does nothing to make a game more engaging and while I have played a couple of exceptions this ain't one of them. And honestly when I do like a sandbox games it tends to be in spite of the extraneous BS rather than because of it.

I give PT props for having mildly amusing writing and decent enough renders, the few that I had seen anyway. But none of it was enough for me to overcome my aversion to pointless game mechanics.

The story is a complete mess.
Until the guy pretends to be gay to infiltrate all-female gym.
There are dozens of ways to make it better just at this point.

The sandbox/passing time just does not feel right, same with events progression.
There is a small circle button on screen to do something, but it feels impactless and a waste of time.
Renders are outdated and poor quality.

This AVN initially released in 2018, so you're getting:

1. Dated renders compared to newer games
2. Crappy animations for the lewd scenes, which is mostly vanilla and in line with the typical Brazzers marketed porn you'd see.

It's a sandbox and it's mostly competent and it functions, avoiding the pitfalls of bad sandboxes with broken quests and crappy UI.

As with most sandbox renpy games, the story isn't the main selling point. It mostly consists of quests that players complete in order to progress relationships and unlock lewd scenes.

Each love interest has a storyline that you eventually finish by fixing their life problems. They'll feel shallow compared to the typical story heavy AVNs.

The story is really porny, where the premise is you're a personal trainer that fucks a lot of ladies at a women's only gym. The biggest problem is there are no strong story arcs that should form the backbone of the sandbox story.

By the end of the game, it FEELS unfinished and unsatisfying because it just wraps up and ends without any climax or strong resolutions. Better sandbox games have stronger main or 'core' storylines.

This gets bonus points from me because it's one of the few finished AVNs. Kudos on the dev for that.

First off, any potential new player should know that this game is not actually completed. It's been abandoned. If you're looking for a game with an ending, this isn't it. All of the story arcs just cut off, a couple of them without much even really starting. Then the characters react to you the same as always.

What exists of the story is fine. He's cheated on by his fiance, falls into a depression, and gets fired. So he moves in with his cousin and gets his revenge on his ex by... fucking a bunch of random chicks she's never met in a different and far away city by lying about being gay to get a job at an all women's gym. Ok, I guess. It's porn so, whatever. Suspension of disbelief required is not totally unexpected.

The MC's personality seems to swing a little wildly. I'm guessing because depending on which girls you interact with first, you're also kind of wildly swinging through the development cycle of various updates. He can be genuinely kind of charming at times, then hideously cringeworthy, or a huge asshole for no apparent reason. The girls are mostly fun with varied personalities, ethnicities, ages, and body types. There are many stereotypes utilized for good and ill. The cousin's story was my favorite bit because their relationship felt the most real. They had an obvious history. Every other interaction is someone the MC is just meeting and becomes hopelessly devoted to him after a couple weeks because of....his sparkling personality? Magic dick? Who knows.

Despite this technically being a sandbox, there are very few actual choices to be made. It's basically a just a VN with a ton of wasted time built in. Repeated events that make no sense being repeated, waiting around in specific locations for people to show up, etc. I followed the in-game hint system pretty closely, and it was still fairly time-wastey. Any attempt to actually explore and progress on your own would be frustrating beyond belief as so so so many options are either empty or offer repeated bland dialogue. Or repeated bland sex too I suppose.

The writer seems like a native English speaker at least. There are attempts throughout to throw in humor, some of it is successful, some of it is not. I'm sure the exact percentage will vary based on your taste. But a good amount of the humor is centered around references to now-dated current events that I was just kind of like "oh yeah, that was a thing that happened".

Renders are mostly dated looking, though do seem to improve over the course of the game. Animations are laughably bad for the most part, basically a step above just having two frames cycling back and forth. Most are incredibly short with minimal movement, and at least a couple are just blatant static render manipulations with corresponding awkward distortion. Though there are a handful of longer, much improved animations in the final scenes of a couple of the girls.

Overall, I don't recommend it. There is certainly some enjoyment to be found here, but unless you're super into one of the character models or the gym setting, you shouldn't have any trouble finding much better games to spend your time on.
