Photo extractor

Not sure if this is the forum to ask this or not. Is there a program that can take real photos of people and items and other things (mainly people) and turn them into a digital asset that can be used in Daz Studio/Poser or some other program to put into scenes or digital art/comics? I'm sure the entertainment industry has something that needs a super computer to run it, but is there something for the common person to use?

For people, there is the in-build Daz Face Transfert feature (windows>pane>face transfert).
FaceGen Artist Pro 3.3 got more options and a better blending from the tests I've done tho.

Industry wise I guess they use service of 3D scan studio, create from scratch, or a bit of both. I don't think there is praticable "take my 2d image and make it 3d" solution yet.
