Pirate Trainer: Wealth, Fame & Power is a One Piece based 'Trainer' parody game inspired by games like Princess Trainer or Witch Trainer. Set during the time skip, you play as a shipwrecked sailor who is rescued by Nami. From there, you’ll rise as Captain, forming your own harem crew by recruiting the iconic women from the One Piece universe. You’ll sail across the world, completing quests, collecting treasure, and expanding your crew.

Right now, my main focus is on fully developing the East Blue portion of the game before releasing anything. The crew members I’m working for that are Nami, Nojiko, Kaya, Belo Betty, Robin, and Makino.

Some of the systems already in place include:

  • A sailing system where travel time depends on your ship’s speed and the distance between islands (even islands that move, like Baratie).
  • A summon screen that lets you call crew members in for private chats.
  • A logbook screen to track quests.
  • Mood-based greetings from crew members that reflect their current state.
  • Shops with inventories of items specific to their location.
  • Custom nameboxes for characters, and personalized player/crew name

--Progress Update--

Gameplay Enhancements:

  • The game now starts with the player docked at Cocoyashi Village, with all other islands set as undiscovered, allowing players to explore as they progress.
  • Added nickname reactions for all available crew members.
  • Added a moving shop players can sail to for gift items not specific to islands.
  • Added a small sleep transition scene, providing a visual effect when the character sleeps or during similar events.
  • Implemented a ‘Land-ho’ system for crew announcements of upcoming island arrivals when a ship with a crow's nest is unlocked.

Logbook Improvements:

  • Fixed the open and close animations for the logbook.
  • Formatted the logbook text for better readability and added a divider image.
Sound Design:
  • Implemented sound effects, including the sound of a ship on water and seagulls, to bring more life to the sailing experience(seagulls when the player is close to islands).
  • Started work on the main menu with menu music.

--Progress Update--

Gameplay Enhancements:
  • Nickname Reactions: Wrote reactions for each available crew member when the player requests a nickname.
  • Location Dialogue: Added more dialogue lines for each available crew member when the ship's destination is set to specific locations and when the ship is docked.
  • Map Screen: Introduced a better ship icon to the map screen. ship icon.png
  • Logbook Button: Added a button to the top bar that allows players to access the logbook from any screen. (Still working on integrating the animation.)
  • Crow’s Nest: Added a Crow’s Nest to ships of level 2 and above, where players can check how many days they are from their next destination.
  • Money Animation: Added a small animation that displays the amount of money gained or lost. money tick.png
  • Maximum Crew Size: Implemented a maximum crew size that is now limited by the player ship’s current level.
Sound:
  • Found and added background music for Party’s Bar, Gathered sound effects for the door in the captain’s quarters.
