We are seeing it more and more, users posting AI slop video's of official game renders in official game threads for easy likes. Does anyone else get absolutely turned off by it? Because I am!

This is an official request to F95 moderators to starting banning users that are posting AI slop pictures and video's of official dev renders inside their game threads. I think this is a reasonable request. The AI slop could still be allowed in fan made threads, just not in the official game threads.

Hopefully we can start enforcing this, as it is ruining my experience on this great forum.

This is an official request
Then this should be in feature requests?

but then again, I think it is sort of forbidden already.
Maybe not if someone just makes one message with their "fanart" (just scroll past and be done), but if it then causes discussion about that fanart and not the game, or about AI-howto or "AI slop", or whatnot - you could report it.
or tell the users in question to maybe create a gametitle-offtopic topic in offtopic section / point them to an existing gametitle-offtopic, errr, topic?

This is already covered by the general rules and I highly doubt they will start banning users for posting content.

It's not forbidden, just discouraged.

2. On-topic
9. Do not post Fan Art in game threads if a dedicated thread Fan Art exists for that game; if it does not exist, consider creating a new thread

So if there isn't a dedicated fan art thread it seems they can post in the game thread but it would be better if they made a fan art thread instead. Although 6. does cover how they can post images so they might be breaking the rules if they spam images or don't use spoilers for multiple images.

6. Do not spam content threads asking for a new version to be shared (i.e. "+1", "bump" or similar are not accepted).
  • This includes DLCs, missing content, compressed versions, ports (android, mac), etc
  • Asking ONCE is fine, but avoid spamming or repeating other's requests
  • Do not spam images in a repeated manner. Please use spoilers if attaching several images to a single post.

Interesting, I wasn't aware it was actually discouraged. Would mass reporting these users/posts be useful?

So.. let me get this straight. It is reasonable to make F95 start BANNING people.. because they are ruining the guy's experience due to personal preference reasons. ?

The uploader should just be required to check a box if the pic / vid is AI-generated. There should be smaller file size limits because, let's be honest, it could be easily regenerated if someone requested the HQ version. That should be the litmus test to see if the uploader put any effort into the creation. The random AI image thread had 8+ MB unoptimized images for no reason. Even lossless compression would be smaller. The sysadmin should be pissed, but I guess not, because the thread just kept going all this time.

Large off topic images have always been a problem that makes threads less readable.
It requires making all images into thumbnails that open to a separate tab to fix. Maybe that discourages "meme" spam too.
But since every change requires some premade plugin by a 3rd party it never gets fixed.

I've found that since i started adding users to my ignore list, i don't see this problem much anymore. But yeah meme spam is annoying in game threads (and so are a lot of other behaviours).

Post written by an AI.
Not everything wrote by a high educated English writer is necessarily AI generated. In fact it's often the opposite; generative AIs begin for the ignorant mass, they tend to speak in a more familiar way, prioritizing easy understanding over a formally written statement.

Why should the sysadmin be pissed? All the images (stills, not animation) are saved on server with a modern lossy compression. And sysadmin added after the change more edge image server to cache those images and let users have fast loading time. Doesn't look like he's pissed at all.

Despite working in IT myself I really fuckin' hate AI, especially AI 'art'.
It's dogshite and any nonce could go and 'generate with a great prompt' but it doesn't make them an artist (nor an engineer lmfao). Also most of the art is stolen without even credit—which they never care about—and then comes out looking the same terrible ways. It's usually uncanny valley and a turn off.
But hey, that's just my opinion, man
