The Pokedex is full of shit. Victini can lose, nothing is written about Entei being able to warp reality (using Unown?), and Kangaskhan babies grow up after three years--meaning that adult Kangaskhan will walk around for a while without a joey in their pouch before getting dicked down by something in their egg group and...
Never really hit me how impossible that is before - pokemon don't give live birth.
...giving live birth to their baby, who doesn't instantly grow to adulthood. Let alone spontaneously generate a baby of their own via parthenogenesis, as the games would imply when you breed more Kangaskhan.
Ambiguity is like the duct tape of world-building. There is a fuck-ton of stuff that makes no sense or contradicts what is written or depicted elsewhere in the Pokemon canon. We just sort of pick and choose from moment to moment.
For example, Pokemon fucking eat each other. Also, there's no way the super common ones like Magikarp, Pidgey, and Wingull can be breeding one egg at a time given the previously stated reality that they are preyed upon by bigger Pokemon who would be eating a fuck ton of them at a time. Garchomp supposedly eats entire flocks of bird Pokemon when it encounters them.
And if Gardevoir ever really made an actual black hole, everyone would be double-plus super-extra mega-dead. To say nothing of Magcargo's unreasonable temperature and the fact that most things would die after
touching Alolan Muk, let alone biting or tackling it. And how the fuck do male-only Pokemon exist if babies are always the same species as their mother? The answer is that genetics and Punnett Squares were too hard to code, or the developers (and writers?) figured it wasn't worth the effort, so they just ignored the question.
The content and mechanics can't keep up with the raggedy patchwork lore. Let's not even get started on all the implications of Porygon, Porygon2, and Porygon-Z.
