B) Family members that you have been living with and seeing each other on your whole life. However, recently you just found out that they are not your real blood related family.

Which scenario do you prefer? And what is it that make you like about Incest game?
Is it the official title (Mom, Sister...) and knowing that they are actually your legitimate blood related family? Or is it the memories and the relationship that you have with them?

Anywho, for me, I prefer scenario A for the taboo factor, but scenario B is better for a stronger story, so I am not going to pick either.

I will always prefer the fantasy of seducing the biological mother who raised you, but both scenarios A and B are arousing. The only thing I can’t stand is the adoption revelation part way through the story.

Legally, both are considered incest but option A is certainly more incestuous than option B as it's between blood relatives. I find it odd that we illegalise sex between non-blood related persons who are considered family, i.e. step-siblings of different parents, adopted siblings, aunts and nephews where the aunt married into the family, etc. There is no blood relation in couplings such as this, so why call it incest? The definition of the word needs to be narrowed from, "Sexual relations between people classed as being too closely related to marry each other", to, "Sexual relations between people related by blood". I see no reason why a brother and sister who are only brother and sister because one of each of their birth parents re-married should not be allowed to have sex and be a couple themselves.

As for preference, I prefer games where the characters are full-blood relatives who have known each other all their lives but I also don't mind games where the characters were separated for a long time and feel a sexual attraction towards each other when they meet becuase this is a genuine concept known as Genetic Sexual Attraction.

There's still the relationship / power dynamic, so it could be interesting.

However most of the time, non-blood-related is a cheap way out of possible patreon bans / legal stuff (in case of real porn). And not an actual plot driver. So it depends on how it's written. And you have the risk of blindsiding players who expect actual blood incest.

Some people may not agree with me (that's fine) but I consider Life with Mary as kind of incestuous, but without the actual incest. The mild taboo about that game is just that the MC is quite a bit older than Mary. Still it feels like a father-daughter relationship to me. That's because it's well written.

Anyway, I still prefer scenario A.

I like my incest the way I like most of my genres, believable. The biggest hurdle for me is convincing me about the relationship. And by believable, I don't necessarily mean realistic. You can be exposed to some chemical that makes you uncontrollably horny and you simply screw the nearest person at the time, that's fine. I'm not saying I won't play a game with an unbelievable plot either, I'm just saying when it comes to preferences, that's how I prefer it. If the crux of the story is the MC finally saw his mother/sister naked in the shower for the first time and now they have to fuck, I'll roll my eyes. <Insert sigh, unzip> So somewhat regardless of the blood relationship, I want to know why these two people are fucking. That's just me.

And yet, sexual relations between non-related family members (such as an aunt and nephew where the aunt married into the family, or a guy having sex with his adopted sister) is considered incest under the law, which is completely crazy because even though they are ostensibly considered family, there's no blood relation. It's especially crazy in the case of step-siblings who have different parents and adopted siblings because since they'll generally be close in age, there would be nothing wrong with them having sex or being a couple if the family aspect weren't there, so why should it matter when it is there? Even if incest isn't fully legalised, they should at least loosen up these laws of non-blood related family members.

And yet that's the premise of nearly every incest game out there. I'd love to see more games with believable incest plotlines, I've even had a few ideas myself on what those stories could be, but my recent foray into Daz development hasn't gone so well because my current computer can't handle Daz very well with the software either crashing or freezing whenever I try to do anything too intensive, so I guess I'll just need to hope that someone else ups their game and puts the effort in to making more believable incest stories.

The Oedipus story, like so many other ancient stories, is merely a lesson that rings with a certain truth. In this case, it's about how the old are replaced by the young and how youthful ambition can blind a person's reason, and it uses the shock value of an incestuous relationship to illustrate it. It has nothing to do with the perversion of a familial relationship and is simply a lesson about generational change.

In my view, incest laws are no different from the laws that previously existed illegalising gay and interracial relationships. It's discrimination under the guise of morality, and whilst there are increased health risks for children born from an incestuous relationship, I see no reason why simply having consensual sex with a family member should be outlawed when sex is as natural an act as breathing. Sexual attraction is also perfectly natural, so if two people who are related have such an attraction to each other they should be able to act on it without fear of recrimination.

P.S. Important to note that incest isn't universally banned around the world. There are several countries which do not criminalise consensual sex between adult family members including France, Holland, Russia, Argentina, Brazil, and Japan. Even some US states such as Rhode Island, Ohio, and New Jersey do not criminalise consensual incest between adults.

For me, when it comes to defining incest, biological relationships matter, social ones don't. I don't consider stepcest games incest in any way. The incest taboo is gone, as soon as you include the word "step".

Family members separated a long time ago still have the full taboo factor, even if the characters don't know. It may spice the story up, if the get to know during the story. Alternatively one of the characters might find out but decide not to tell the other or be a complete jerk and tell her at the most embarrassing moment.

As a Gamer, I choose A when there is a good plot line, and not the typical "I saw my son's dick and now i want it". or "I want to fuck my sister and mother for no reason".
As a Developer, all my scripts are like B because adds the possibility to good plot lines.

The only scenarios where I have good stories with the option A. Are scenarios that involve magic or where I try to delve deeper into what it means to have an incestuous relationship. And how it impacts both parts involved, Morally and emotionally

Idk, maybe is just because i can't stand non sense sex scenes. Everytime i play a game or think about making a story for a porn game, I need reasons why the player is fucking a girl.
I just don't like where chapter A you meet a girl, and then Chapter B you fuck that girl, i mean i dont mind those scenes. But an actual plot game based only on that? na thanks.

IMHO a good example of Option A game, would be Dreams of Desire. Lust Epidemic. My Cute Cousin (or my cute roomate), Love and Submission, Waifu Academy and Cure My Addiction. There is a few more that can make the cut just because is cool how everything goes on, like Man of The House, FILF and Milfy City.
Now, (imho) bad examples of Option A could be, Foot of the mountains, Tangled Up, School Love and Friends and Deep Impact.

I haven't play any game with option B plot (that is actually good, that is). Looks like all developers know that players don't like option B, lol.

Disclaimer: not a fan of incest. I tolerate it in porn, unless it bashes me over the head with it. Special case - mother-son incest, because they usually involve patterns which I hate. On the other hand, after years of hentai manga consumption, I have plenty of expertise.

Both A and B are incestuous and both can work. For those that ask why B would be incest and taboo, one of the reasons incest is harmful IRL is relationship dynamic which can get plenty fucked up between siblings without actual fucking, and abusive relationship is much more likely and much harder to walk away from.
IIRC, there was a study which has shown that people are less likely to have romantic relationships with other people they have had a close relationship since before a certain age(6 or something like that). I don't consider a sexual relationship between new step-siblings in mid-late teens to be incestuous at all, unless other factors involved.

For a player it should't really matter, unless they have a "strong opinion" about the biological part. Whether two characters just met at the start of the game or know each other for a long time matters less, because the player meets them for the first time anyway.

B would work much better for a "conventional" incest-scenario. A can be made into "surprise-incest" for more drama.
