Personally, I could do all 3 of these and understand the appeal to each style. My default state is the third person mind set, but depending on the type of story and level of writing, I could dip into the more involved way of consuming these stories.
For example, there are first person POV NTR JAVs. When viewing this, I sometimes imagine myself to be the POV character as is intended in these types of porn videos. 'How could you do this to me, you whore!' 'You never show this type of face to me.' So on and so fourth. The usual NTR tropes. I suppose it's on the masochistic side of things, and if I had to explain it, it's the thrill of losing control. Definitely not my default state though. For the roleplaying, I only do this for extremely well written stories that has protagonists with redeeming qualities. The top example is Thug(Dark) Hero Party. The MC is someone you can root for because he shows perseverance and determination in the face of overwhelming odds. He gets up again and again to try and set things right even though he knows he has no chance of winning. This makes it much easier to empathize, which makes it all the more depressing and painful. It also makes the revenge path at the end that much sweeter and the final true ending incredibly melancholic and poignant.
The default state. Third person/bird's eye view. All I'm interested in is the females getting corrupted. Corrupted enough to abandon their loved ones. There is also moral degeneration where the once noble woman devolve into a sow. There is actually lots of overlap here with the plain old corruption genre. I just feel like the NTR element signifies a higher level of corruption and bigger stakes at play. The suffering of the male MC only serves to fuel the sadistic side in me. It's used to show how far the female has fallen to treat the man she once loved this way. Male Domination, corruption, moral degeneration, coercion, etc. These types of stories where a male dominates a female into becoming a mind broken sex pet is almost a requirement for me in terms of fappability. NTR revolves around these themes almost every time, so it's been my go to fap tags on hentai mangas and videos for a while. The other tags I search for is mind break on hentai sites.
