I'd like to play a VN that is placed in...

As a bonus, everyone gets two votes, I highly encourage you to use one for the universe and the other for either "slice of life" or "save the world".
Slice of life if you prefer grounded, not too crazy stories about everyday struggles, Save the world if you crave an epic story (Chapter 10: Kill God).

Ok, let`s check:
Low fantasy - dirt, shit and magic
High fantasy - cosplay party or same dirt&shit and more magic
Post-apo - dirt, shit and no maigc
Present times - boring
High sci-fi (FTL travel) - Cosplay party, cause ppl almost never fantasize about space love or something alien. They make humans desires in unnatural bodies.

And in the end only Superhero and Low sci-fi (cyberpunk) left. The genres where autor can make almost any kinks and make them looking good and tasty.

Aside from what was in the poll, I'd say anything history-related. Actually, prehistoric might be a fun one. Never once have I seen a caveman waifu game! I want to play a game where I get to see Ooga with some Big ol' Boogas.

(Half)Jokes aside, I think people are fine with any setting so long as the story/aesthetic is good. And the rest are just there for the smut/kinks anyhow, so they won't care a bit so long as it ticks their particular kink checklist.

I unironically do not see what possibly could be confusing in that part ;_;
As for steampunk - I didn't wanted to go for those cause there's too many punks to list.
Aaaand I really dislike steampunk in particular.
