Problem is, I really don't think games should have unbeatable fights. If the devs allow the player to fight it implies that the player can win if they try hard enough. But if the fight is intentionally unbeatable then the player could be stuck on the fight, thinking that they just have to try harder.
In this game, even if you cheat and max all stats out and defeat Wendigo the game just glitches out and resets everything to before the fight, putting the player into an infinite loop unless they go back and reset their stats to something that would allow Wendigo to beat them.
Even if devs in the industry do this type of thing, that doesn't mean this should be the way it is done.
From Software has the right of it. In Demon's Souls you can beat the boss of the training level, but since dying and being sent to the Nexus is a mandatory requirement to progress they place the Dragon God immediately after. However, instead of allowing the player to fight him and believe they could win if they just get better, they instead kill the player in an unavoidable cut-scene.
This is how the Wendigo fight should have gone. That, or the dev should have setup the fight so that even if you win the game still progresses as if you lost, anyways, instead of letting it glitch out and infinite loop. Just that little bit of extra coding would help immensely in making the scene bearable.
I see alot of this kind of thing, especially in indie projects. I can never agree with the practice and I just want more people aware that this really shouldn't be a thing done in the development of games and that steps should be taken to avoid situations like this from happening.
The Opala games suffer from this too. And I refuse to even touch Loki's Corruption again because the dev forces to player into a loss scenario regardless of stats. Even if you'd realistically never win you really shouldn't lock the game's progress behind a player's defeat.
Most games exists as power fantasies, and porn games exist for players to explore their lusts. Not to be weighed down by complex mechanics and endless level grinding and unwinnable scenarios.
Hell, I love the game Warlock and Boobs but there is just SO DAMN MUCH LEVEL GRINDING that I've basically said "fuck it" and haven't played the game without cheats just because the PORN should NOT be LOCKED behind LEVEL GRINDING.
