Firstly, I appologise if this is in wrong thread - can't really find a thread that my query/question best fits
OK, onto the facts.
Currently on F95 I know there's been a game 'in development' for many years that has been abandoned several times, but in each case a fan decides to attempt to continue it only to abandon it again - probably due to the fact they're only 1 person & although they thought they could do the job, figured out it was just too much work as it's such a mess from the multiple other developers attempts. This has happened about 4 times so far meaning there's 4 abandoned threads here for the same game
However in the last/latest thread to be created for this particular game (game was last 'updated' 7th March 2023), there has been a few fans who have (sort of) grouped together.
There's a couple of posters who are concentrating on replacing & creating new AI graphics, a couple that are cleaning up/tweaking the existing code and a few posters giving suggestions on how to complete certain paths
What they've been doing is posting edited renpy files, altered graphics, tweaks etc onto the thread, while also discussing how to approach certain elements, fix bugs & so on
- just to attempt to get a 'finished' bug free game without 1 person taking the whole project on by themselves
None of these people are willing to be the sole developer of the game & start yet another thread to post yet another unfinished version of this game that may or may not ever be finished
(It is possible that one of these people may post a version of this game once it is deemed 'fixed' but no guarentee)
So effectively the game been abandoned by the last developer but still actively discussed & tweaked by fans, so I was wondering.....
> What is F95 policy on abandoned games still being 'developed' by fans ??
> Is it possible to get the threads 'abandoned' tag changed to 'on hold' because of this ? (I pretty sure though 'on hold' can only come about by OP developer request)
I know ownership of the thread 'could' be transferred to a single person if requested, but as I mentioned none of them feel committed enough to accept the responsibility just yet (maybe never)
> Would it even be possible get the first post edited (slightly) by a Moderator to include a subnote or something stating that while developer has abandoned the game it's still actively being developed by fans as of March 2025 ??
Probably nothing can be done, but any advice would be appreciated
