Been thinking of making a game in the adult genre for some time now and have come up with something but not sure if it is any good or if other would enjoy it. I attempted to use Renpy at first but couldnt quite get my story across and had limited images.

I decided to attempt an interactive novel using Twine 2 and SugarCube. I have made it more of a novel then a visual novel, as in there is more reading than looking at images. There is still choices that influence the story and I feel like I can tell the story more the way I want this way.

I was wondering if anyone could let me know what they think. I have attached some images of the game so you can have a look. The images are subject to change due to reasons I am working on atm. (images uploaded out of order for some reason)

There’s a group of people who enjoy text-based games. If the story is good, I can enjoy them too, but it’s also true that most people prefer games that include visuals. However, don’t let that discourage you, there are games that have been successful even without a single cg.

I recommend that you customize the overall appearance using css [ ][ ], so that it doesn't look like most games made with sugarcube. Also, pay attention to to ensure readability.

That is good advice i will looking to it. I didnt really notice the of some of the text until you mentioned it. I can also see the advantage of making it look different that the other sugarcube games out there.

I also enjoy them if the story is engaging enough and choices matter, but i also prefer to read books than play games these days.

It all depends on what you're trying to achieve. If you're just looking to have some fun and create something you'll enjoy making and people will enjoy playing, go with what comes easy for you. However, if you wish to monetize, I'm afraid it will be extremely hard to do without good visuals.

Good luck!

Yeah that is what i thought. I do have visuals but am limited with what i can show with them because of lack of assets. I was thinking of supplementing some pictures with outside images when i dont need to add people into the scene, like using AI or honey select 2. I have seen a few sugarcube games do this type of thing.
