When a game is marked as 'Abandoned', that doesn't necessarily mean that it's not beatable from start to finish, right?

I'm asking because I've seen some really interesting-looking games under that tag that are marked as, for example, version 2.8.2, or something like that. Does that mean that they were completed, but then abandoned while the author was adding extra stuff?

Also, if anyone has any examples of really good 'abandoned' games, I'm all ears!

I think it just means there's been no word from the dev in over 3 months or they've announced that they are no longer working on the game.

My favourite abandoned game is Chains of Pleasure. Sadly, it ends just as things were really starting to heat up. If anyone knows of similar games to this then please LMK cause i haven't been able to find any (except for Wife Trainer Files but it features real porn which i don't like in games).

While many use semantic versioning there are a few other systems used as well, and some are used incorrectly. Some are used correctly but burn out while still at 0.4 and just finish it there, some call their first release version 1.0 from the start instead of 0.1. So for the most part version numbering isn't really reliable at all.

As for the abandoned tag, it's given automatically to games where the dev has been radio silent for a set amount of time, so in rare cases a game can be marked abandoned but is still being worked on, but for the most part they are unfinished and will likely stay that way forever.
