So, here's a question. Why are people still using Honey Select 1 to make their graphics for VNs?
I mean, the second game has been out for ages, has a buttloads of mods and can give some very impressive results.
Just the light mods make an incredibly difference. (The characters don't look like some cheap plastic toys.)
Is the studio for the second game that hard to use? Some games could really profit from an upgrade.

I assume the vast majority of the games that use the old engine are the games that have been around for a while and just want to keep the same aesthetic without doing a complete overhaul or a random shift in visuals. I agree that HS 1 games are definitely showing their age but alot of these games take 2 or more years to complete so it takes time for new engines/rendering programs to get used more widely.

That makes alot of sense. Hopefuly we see a shift to the newer engine soon. With what I'v seen people do with the latest mods, it would be quite a difference in style. Almost as good as a legit 3d program, almost.
