Question concerning watching an user/dev account

Hi, I'm wondering what entails the fact of following an user ? What kind of notifications should I expect?

I'm asking this because I thought that by following an user I will receive a notification every time he posted on his profile or in a thread, just as when we decide to follow a thread.
Thing is, I want to follow dev's interactions in his game thread or in his profile. I'm already watching the game thread but ignored last notifications because I don't want to follow it daily, but only from time to time. This is how I realized that the dev had written a post in the game thread, after I clicked to follow him. However I didn't receive a notification of his participation. Is this because I ignored the last notifications in the thread he as written in ? If it's the case, it means that the only way to follow a particular user is by searching manually in the thread I'm interested in or in his profile?

Nah, you just see them appear on the sidebar when they're online.

Thanks. I was aware of this path, but it implies that I must look for it manually. It's obviously easier that going to the user profile and look from there for all of his content. So, there is any kind of notification we can receive such as when a thread has new content?

Do you mean whenever a thread has new users commenting on said thread and/or an update from the thread that notifies you in your alerts?

If so, you can simply just 'watch' the thread to get updates from the thread activity sent via your alerts page



Or if you mean the ability to watch when a certain member account that you follow specifically had made a comment in a thread that you follow and the ability to follow your friend accounts that make a post in the thread, then I don't believe that functionalty is currently supported on the forums.

Only if you use the 'News Feed' tool that whowhawhy linked in their earlier post, you'd be able to keep track of member accounts that you follow in your F95 network and what content they have posted/engaged/interacted with across multiple threads.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I'm referring to this case scenario. I'm already watching the game thread but it's very active and I'm not interested in following every new comment. So, I wanted a way to follow the activity of a particular user, in this case the dev, whom will post interesting info or teasers that I may be interested in. I guess that following him and from time to time checking my news feed will do the trick. Shame that there is not an automatic way to do it, such a watching a thread.

For that particular use case, you will need to rely on a combination of checking your news feed and/or following the specified user itself so that you can see routine updates in your alerts feed when they post in specific threads that you are watching.

There is no automated process I.e., when following a thread, you can choose to trigger an auto-follow option for other members who are also subbed to that thread. This process is not currently supported but might be a future feature request that Sam might consider looking into in the near term.

Yes, as I said in my previous post, I think I will do this. It's the closer I can get right now.
