I have been toying with the idea of making a game for some time now.

I'm still not set on an engine, I might go for RenPy, Twine/Sugarcube or just do my own (I'm a website developer). An online game has upsides.

I would very much prefer to host my game and monetize it anonymously.

What are possibilities for anonymous hosting and anonymous monetization ?

I'm not grumpy, I'm just coded that way.

What are possibilities for anonymous hosting
Limited.

To anonymously register a domain name, you need to pass through a third party service, and it's it that will actually own the domain. This mean that, while it's rare, you've no guaranty to keep the domain name.
This being said, all registars offer the possibility to anonymize your personal data. You register the domain in your name, but only the registar and the entity in charge of the tld, will know who you are.

and anonymous monetization ?
Well, you've to pay taxes, you know... So, unless you rely only on crypto, there's none.
But, here again, it's not because you need to give your name to a service, that this information will be public.

Must also be said that paying to access a website that give no information regarding who own it... How to emphasis enough that it's not the best idea that someone can have?

with hosting, I meant for hosting files, like MEGA, but it's not anonymous.

crypto could be something to look at, thanks !

the monetization would just be donations.

Do it then. Best way to start, is to start.

Don’t bother reinventing the wheel. Ren’Py is highly flexible and customisable. Twine is great for a simpler interface.
I would very much prefer to host my game and monetize it anonymously.
Why? You can essentially just host it via F95. Then just use SubscribeStar if you’re worried about Patreon.

It almost sounds like this guy wants to commit tax evasion with how they are wording things tbh. Or I'm just reading too much into it. :KEK:

The bad news: you can't be anonymous and monetize your game. Whatever payment platform you choose will require tons of personal details about you.

The good news: nobody fucking cares who you are and what you do. The world is literally falling apart around us, nobody gives a shit about some dude sitting in his room making porn.

If you're operating from a country with more extreme laws regarding porn, simply never ever mention your country to anyone. The very very rare creators who got in hot water over making porn had their country known to others. Then someone could complain to the local police who can eventually get the data they need from payment providers, but if no one knows what country you operate from, it's all but impossible to start this chain reaction. Note, of course, that I'm a porn creator and not a lawyer.

thanks for all the info!
I'll take some time to think about what I want to do.

what do you mean host via F95 ?
does F95 have a file hosting service where I can upload the game ?

They do have a DL server but that's for donors only. What I think they meant is host as in put your game here on the website. You only need to make one link as the uploaders will make copies across different sites for you.

So I'm just curious, I'm still kind of ignorant to this but with how much shit's on the site, how does F95 keep itself afloat while keeping files that are nearly a decade old. I would love it if y'all could enlighten me.

Unless you're selling the game on the deep web using cryptocurrencies, I don't think you can monetize it anonymously.

You don't need to do it on the deep web. Use a registrar with registration privacy and get some BP hosting. You can accept crypto as payment.
