I'm creating some animations for a game, but it has a heavy focus on bestial content, and I just want to be safe that I'm within the legal lines for publishing.
What, if any, makes that kind of content illegal generally? NA/US
I have seen a lot of content that is completely uncensored with bestial tags, and i have seen alot that have been censored or adjusted to look like more of an alien creature or something rather than a beast.

Thanks in advance!

I don’t know its legal status, but Patreon is against it. If you’re planning to collect donations through Patreon, you should keep this in mind. By the way, I’m talking about real animals. Species with human-like physiques but animal skins aren’t an issue. (For example, a human with tiger patterns.)

Depends upon where you live.

If you don't know - look for the legal code of your country/state/locality and search the words bestiality and zoophilia. You may also need to search for the word pornography and see if there is anything listed in that. You could live somewhere that says bestiality and zoophilia are legal, but pornography of it is illegal - or vice versa - or both legal - or both illegal.

There are a number of legal sites that offer free advise, it would be best to look for one in your area / county / state and get verification from a professional.

Okay, thanks for the advice! I will do some research on my specific area.
Does anyone know a good site to check those legalities?

Also, what if the creature could be classified as more of an alien creature, but has a similar structure/genitalia as an animal?Would this sort of bypass those restrictions? And possibly legalities?

I see alot of games doing similar things on even Steam, etc.. just curious if theres a "line" that cannot be crossed when creating that kind of content.. or exactly where the line is, if that makes sense.

If it’s essentially an alien creature, no matter how much it resembles an animal, I’m 99% sure it won’t cause legal issues. To double-check the laws, you can use chatgpt.

In the USA at least, as far as I know for most states, the law only criminalizes committing acts of beastiality and sharing real life beastiality. Creating fictional beastiality and consuming both real or fake beastiality is not illegal. A few states don't even have beastiality laws yet.
