I remember a Super Famicom game called "Seiken Densetsu" that was translated as "Secret of Mana" (or Legend of the Sacred Sword) and that "Densetsu" and "Retsuden" share one translation as "Legend".
So what precisely is the difference?
Can someone clear this up for me?
I already grasp that Japanese is a highly contextual language that can be interpreted many ways depending on how it is written*. But does anybody know the answer as to when to use one over the other?
*: For example, Light Yagami of Death Note. One way his first name may be interpreted is "Moon" but the way it's written gives its translation as "Light".
