Hey everyone!

I’ve been delaying this announcement for a while… and many of you have been asking recently whether the update "might" still come this year. I really hoped it would, I pushed hard to try to make it happen, but for several reasons, it just won’t be possible. I want to explain everything clearly:

• Renders:
All renders are done. Of course, during testing there are always a few missing shots (that’s normal), but everything I planned, everything I managed to get back to for now - I finished.
However, there are still 500+ renders left to be rendered, and even with two PCs working nonstop, that alone means days of pure rendering time… and I still need time for all the other tasks.

• Animations:
There are a lot of animations left to render.
Because I changed the animation workflow and length, each animation now takes significantly longer - lighting, setup, the whole process became heavier. But I think the difference is obvious to the naked eye, and with every update I want them to look even better.
There are also a few animations still left to make. And when I’m working on animations, I can’t render images, so one thing slows down the other.

• Voice work:
Only two girls have their voices done so far. Several more still need theirs.
This part is out of my hands - I rely on other creators and Voice Actors, and I can’t pressure them too much. I also started this whole voice-pipeline a bit too late, even though I had many attempts and conversations before. Only in the past month have we really pushed forward in a serious, organized way.
My hope is that once the network is built, future updates will get their audio much earlier and this won’t cause delays anymore.

• And then… testing, Photoshop:
I only finished photoshopping three scenes so far. Additionally, the testers also need proper time for testing, feedback, and fixes. The holiday season is always busier for everyone, and I don’t want to put pressure on them. I want the testing phase to be calm and thorough. I also want to take the time to test everything myself as carefully as possible, because there are now many different paths, and with each update the game can be played in more and more ways. My own testing is usually rushed and done late at night, so this time I’d really like to give myself more time to do it properly.

On paper it all sounds small - and the story + text + renders are indeed done - but there are so many small details still unfinished, half-done, or hanging in the air.

Could I work days and nights, pressure everyone, and maybe force it out before Christmas?
Maybe.
But I’ve been through that hell once already when releasing Act 1 on Steam, and I honestly don’t want to put myself in that same place again. It left a mark on me, and I want to avoid that burnout spiral.
And with the holidays coming, I’d really like to spend a bit of calm time with my family instead of sitting stressed in front of the PC, knowing we’re “so close yet not quite ready.”
I know you’ve been waiting a long time.

And trust me - I’ve been waiting just as long to let you finally play this update. For me, this is my favorite one so far (though I guess each new one becomes my favorite, because I’m constantly learning and improving).

So at this point, I can safely say the update will release in January or February.
Once everything is wrapped up, I’ll give you a proper date breakdown like always.
My hope is that we start the new year by playing the new Race of Life update together. ❤

A bit of good news:
Over the last few days, I let the PCs render nonstop and focused on finishing the story and scene structure for Episode 5. I sent everything to Joshua today - which means he can start writing calmly while I finish polishing this update.
In the past, I always sent him the full outline after release, which usually delayed the next part by about a month. So maybe this time things will go smoother.

Thank you for sticking with me.

As soon as everything is rendered, I’ll let you know - and I hope we can also lock in the voice work so the full experience feels complete for you.

Thank you for your patience, your support, and for being here with us.
who tf even asked for voice work, no VN ever has made it work and no VN will.

Maaaan it annoys me so much, i subbed to the dev after the first release but stopped afterwards pretty quick.

I really love this avn, imo it had and maybe still has the potential to become the top1 avn, the story is good, mc is good and the LI's are close to perfect. Renders and animations looked nice from the first version too.

Buuuuuuuuuut ... i hate like 80% of the decisions the devs are taking lol.

They are too slow in the first place and dont seem really interested in fixing that, despite that they produce non-canon bonus content with every chapter and not too along ago even decided to double that amount as they now do half-chapters. On top of that they added all the patreon monetization tools possible (which is fine but lessens my enthusiasm to sub if they behave more like a company than solo devs).

Every of these bonus scenes takes like 2 weeks - month according to the devs statement here some years ago which just adds on the pile of slower and slower dev speed.

And now were getting fucking voice actors and voices which really barely anyone needs or wants and will increase dev time even more. Plus we now get better animations which take way longer to produce ...

But they dont seem to have a working system for time management, doing it like other devs who start rendering the animations as first part of the dev cycle as it takes the longest and keep the animation render queue working - more or less - nonstop.

Our devs here are way more chill ........

Man everything takes fucking ages and we did not even arrived at the point with really massive branching where most avns start to take longer and longer when we talk about dev speed, were still only in episode 4 ...

Just focusing on the avn itsself, its really great, everything around it kinda annoys me :cautious:

okay im done bitching :censored:

Someone said that it's just for lewd scenes (moans). I prefer when games have them, and so do others, based on how many times I've seen people in game threads asking if the game has moans or will add them. If it's for full dialogue, then yeah, that's a bad idea.

That's right, when any field that was previously only for passionate people starts doing a lot of dough, investors enter with profit mentality instead of passionate. Passionate people want to make and want to enjoy good workings, while investors just want the highest profit possible, even though they make absolute crap that ruins that field, because they would jump ship to other fields the moment they smell more profits.

I'm not saying this dev is doing this yet, I'm talking about the company vs solo dev mentality. This dev took a stance against that feminist lobby that banned adult videogames transactions and that's something an investor wouldn't do because they always want to cater to those in power, so for the moment there are good signals. But it's totally true fast dev times aren't their priority, it looks like they joined the once in a year release bandwagon.

The developer is talking about the voice actors. I don't think they're just making moaning sounds. Like many people, I think voice acting is ridiculous. In my opinion, it's the most pointless aspect of a visual novel. Also, for some reason, the development time for every popular game has doubled this year.

Lewd sounds are fine but...
Yeah. I'll be turning them off immediately if they're anything like Fresh Women's.
It's just not for me.
haha I played that game without turning it off I like voice acting even if it was super bad cringe quality like that game

Looks like just moans.

On top of that, we finally started working on SFX for the lewd scenes! Each girl will have different moans and slightly different dynamics, and personally, I really like how it’s turning out. Of course, there will be a separate button to turn off the sounds for anyone who prefers not to have them. For now, we’re focusing only on Episode 4 because there’s already plenty of content there - we’re not adding sounds to Episodes 1–3.2 yet.

My bad
So she was talking about an English-language professor rather than an English person?
Well, based on her last name, Monroe, I looked up the origins of the name and found that it goes back to Scotland and Ireland. So my statement is correct that she is British because of the name, even if her parents are from Canada, since Canada follows the British Crown as part of the Commonwealth.

Her first name is not Monroe
