VN - Ren'Py - Abandoned - Rainy Day [v0.6.2] [Red Rocket]

Played v0.6.2 – abandoned, rather linear visual novel about a male mc getting shot and being recruited by demons to buy people’s souls. You can either play a nice guy or an asshole – asshole path has a lot of rough sex, domination, some spanking and some rape/blackmail. Sadly it has been abandoned for years. The creator started a second game in the same world after this game didn’t get the financial success they hoped for. They also abandoned that second game.

Writing is decent, plot interesting enough (sadly it got abandoned just as it started getting really interesting), girls are hot and scenes were written well. One of my complaints is that there are ten-ish sex-scenes (some have variations) and another five joke sex scenes featuring the creator avatar – seriously? A third of the game’s sex scenes are jokes? I would have preferred the creator invested that effort into the game itself.
If you don’t mind that it’ll never get continued it’s worth checking out.

Very sad that this game is abandoned, as it was excellent.

Episodes are not very long, but decent amount of quality H content in each.

Very good renders, good English, interesting story, decently presented. Pretty much fantasy elements though, be warned, but sex only between humans/human forms.

All in all solid 5/5 for a maledom game with some interesting twists and loads of potential: in short you've agreed to work for demons of hell to buy human souls. But it might not be all what it appears. Demonic intrigues in background.

Modern office setting. Mature MC. Ticks most of the boxes.

It started well. I played the entire game and appreciated the author's humor and irony. After the first part, I paused the game to play another one. When I realized that the game was abandoned, despite its superb potential, it left me feeling disappointed. What a shame... Eventually, I returned to replay and complete the game. Although my comment might not bring it back and will be less detailed than what I usually write, I want to pay tribute to it with 4 stars. It's symbolic...

It's really a pity that these two games were abandoned. Both games have very strong stories and writing, and very strong atmosphere
I don't know what is the matter, but it is one of those games that you can enjoy every second of it
I hope the developer of these two games will return one day because it has been proven that he has a very strong mind in storytelling and writing.
Renderings and animations are also wonderful compared to the oldness of these two games

I'm really bummed that the game is abandoned. So many events and things were set to happen but we won't see them take place and that's really irritating especially if you just finished playing. The game's story is good. Way better than I expected with a plot that had tons of potential and many interesting characters. Models are pretty great and the renders are solid. Got a few good animations here and there. The reason for the four stars it's because of the crazy inconsistency of the MC's behaviour. He is supposed to be this great stand up guy that has a good heart and a strong moral compass and saves a little girl from a terrible fate but in many of his interactions with the female characters he can "choose" to do or say some quiestionable things and right before the end of the build he can commit his most extreme and heinous act by far and become a complete monster by raping and blackmailing his daughter's best friend! This of cource is optional and I believe most players will choose the other option but the fact that this option exists for a character who's been set up as a great father figure and good person is quite disturbing tbh. I wouldn't have minded it if we, as the player, were building our MC's pesonality from the start and were able to choose his path but this one had already his feats written for him.

story: 4/5 It's a shame that MC is not always faithful to our choices, like even if we play a "good guy", he can behave like a hell of an asshole anyway. But overall the story is very good, the humor
is really good! And like many I imagine that I'm a huge fan of the interludes with red rocket! But it's really a shame that the fr patch I have cuts certain end of sentence that does not appear on
the screen

characters: 5/5 They are all very good and makes you want to "know them better"

sex scene: 5/5 Not too much waiting time for these scenes, and they are of very good quality

renders: 5/5 Nothing to complain about, it's very beautiful (except a stone/brick wall at one point)

animation: 4/5 They are really quality, I would have liked them to be in greater number, but that's because I always want more!

sound: Nothing to say about it he is present all the time, not really a moment of "emptiness"

gameplay: 5/5 The choices are quite good with a good feeling about their importance

Review for version 0.6.2.

This is one of the very few 3DCG games that I liked. The story is good, and I prefer its art style over most other 3DCG games. I don't usually play 3DCG since I hate the character models looking like dolls with their shiny, porcelain skin and unrealistic proportions. Rainy Day characters, at least in my opinion, look much better in this regard.

Nice story plot with humor. Even though I'm not a fan of middle aged MC's. I also don't like father daughter type games. But this one is exception MC is because of its story plot. And the intro is funny where red rocket explains things. I avoided the game because of the banner. That girl didn't picqued my interest but she is not a girl she is a shape shifter. Dev executed humor in a nice way. Writing is not bad. But I have to say Dev why so little content ? Just kidding.

This game deserves more attention. Give this one a try guys

I generally tend to dislike stuff with self aware humor but the way the Red Rocket implemented it, completely brazen and unapologetic, instead of the half assed way a lot of other games tend to do it, won me over.

The game has a fresh spin on a pretty overused setting, so it feels unique. The dialogues are funny, the characters are good and the plot seems interesting. The visuals of the story are also very good. It was overall a very good game.

Excellent storytelling. Interesting, unique story so far and quite an intriguing mystery. I love the intro and outro of each chapter with Red Rocket being sexy explaining stuff and all that. Can't get enough of it but fair enough it need to be trimmed down to make more room for content. Ample of sexual contents especially if you are on the dark/evil path. I am not sure who is/are the LIs for the MC but I love Zaida the most and I got the impression that she is at best just the MC fuck buddy. Perhaps Roxana, Violet or even Red Rocket herself? Be prepared for some disturbing scenes if you are on the dark/evil path, which you will explore (on second,third,nth playthrough) to see all the contents. I hope Red Rocket will keep on progressing the story/game as she envisioned, as she wants to tell it. Can't wait to see what lies ahead. Well done.

Story isnt good, MC is an idiot and on top of that frigid (positive Karma route). If you wanna play as a good guy, he will decline every woman. I've stopped at chapter 5 or somewhere near.

Last drop was, when Aika spoke to MC and asked if he's bothered they're buying souls and he answered smth like it's not our fault, we're just like banks, it's ONLY souls. And I remind you, that's the words of a good guy. Spineless for everything except rejecting women.

The only thing I liked - music. Although dev overused soundboard a lot. Which could've been fun 1-2 times per whole game, annoys very much, especially when you hear same sound 3-4 times per minute.

A lot of Patreon ads inside the game,they are made funny (as in game scenes) tho. I mean there are jokes about short episodes from patrons, but if you will do addition of all the screen time of Red Gal, you'll conclude that it's at least another episode.

Hard pass on this. But still I wish a luck to developer.

Amazing ! Enjoyed the detail and immersion in this. Would love for it to be updated and extended continuously in the future! Hope the OP doesnt give up on this. Will add it to my watch list. Not often I review a game but this deserves it. It's smooth and enjoyable to play. Not many choices/nor a free sandbox however it just feels right. Perhaps in the future OP will add more choices to the game. Looking forwaard to it already. Just disappointed in how short it is... Any way to increase ouput?

I've been enjoying the premise of this one. I find the meta aspects with Red Rocket a bunch of fun. I very much enjoy the LI in this game. They're all really engaging with respect to who they are. I'd say the only thing I find annoying is probably the amount of record scratching. Other sounds would help make the moment stand out. That's pretty much my only complaint.

Keep in mind that everything expressed here is my own subjective opinion. You might reach an entirely different conclusion.

Story - 4/5
The story has its moments where it captures a nice flow of storytelling, at times in can suck you in and make you forget it's also a porn game. There's a strong red thread that makes for a cohesive story. All in all it's solid!

Characters - 4/5
They all feel like they fit in well with the story, well except one. Most of them feel like they have their own ideas and desires though obviously - some more than others. They're not randomly thrown into the game, there's a purpose to most of them which is nice.

Sex - 4.7/5
Many of the scenes are on the rougher side which is right up my alley. It's nice to play a game where it's not shied away from. The MC is an asshole with a heart which makes for the right mix of niceness and assertiveness that's required to pull off stuff like this. There's a good pacing of sex and story, you won't be starved for it and it won't feel gratuitous.

Humor - 4.5/5
Humor's a big part of the game and the jokes are mainly on point. There will be chuckles and there will be laughs! Wow that's a boring review on the humor aspect but whatever, reviews are immune to criticism!

Great game and I love the Karma system, only that I find it unfair that you miss many sex scenes in the positive line.

I like the story about the revival and the demons but I wish for Roxanna to be a center point, as she is the innocent but adult woman that really melts your heart. You better not hurt her dev!

Next is the MC's ex. I'd like to see her again man in the present time. Would be funny if her child is actually yours - which then would really conflict the MC and thus hurt the story so I get if this is only something for the end.

I mean tests can also be wrong because of some issues in the machine. Or you could use the typical "Hot but dumb nurse with huge rack accidentily misplaced my name tag with another one so our results got mixed up"-scenario.

What I also didn't like was that it was Roxanna's friend (forgot name lol) we raped.
I mean come on man she lost her dad and even though she didn't feel that much she still is in deep shit because of money.
I wouldn't have a problem with another bitchy woman as this is just a fictional story but her kinda really sad. I was hoping for a FWB with her, fuck buddies or if it has to be, a payment route but more like blackmail and not actual rape.
What I mean is: We basically raped her. Fucked her in her sleep against her will and forced her to this "agreement", otherwise we'd go after her and force her to repay us in other ways.

What I would've liked to see:

Roxannas friend asking us for money but we refuse because even though we have money we don't give it to anybody. No matter how sad it is you can't just spend your money to carry others. You're not the government.
Thus she could've proposed a deal herself which would allow us to have sex with her whenever we want and we pay her debt.

This way it would be her suggesting it, meaning it was actually her will even though due to the moment of frustration and despair, but this would not mean any rape because come on man she aready went through so much. I kinda feel for her but I also want the MC to be really dominant with her.

Hope this could be somewhat possible as a decision in case we don't rape her - doesn't matter if we are + Karma or - Karma.

This game is absolutely amazing and hits a lot of my kinks.

The graphics are great and the animations super smooth and nice. I simply love the humour. Red Rocket you are an evil genius and I hope you will keep the episodes short because I'm not growing old of 'punish the dev' bonus scenes

Regarding the kinks, this game does blackmail and domination well. I wished there would be a slightly slower corruption route and more internal struggle for the character agreeing to MCs abuse but what is there already is great and Violets sub-plot might develop/explore that area.

I usually don't like fantasy setups but this dev gets it just right. Not too much and actually an interesting take on it.

All round fantastic game.

Characters are engaging and interesting, models are diverse and good-looking. The plot and writing is fun at times, sexy in others, and can get down-right serious in some parts.

Overall, this is a game worth playing and following. And I feel the developer is worth following as well. Their work has been amazing so far, and I look forward to seeing what they do in the future.

This game is definitely top tier! It contains supernatural elements and a protagonist that isn't over the top (yet). The story is wild, mysterious, but mundane enough that it doesn't turn into a wild west of "wtf is going on."

Pros:
- The writing is excellent
- Humour hits hard, and is relatable (to me)
- Pacing is good (and words well with the story)
- Characters look amazing
- The choices (though few) relay your character's intent, more than outline future interactions

Cons:
- Some of the choices appear disjointed, or too harsh (or not so) for the character
- I reached the end...

As a side note, I would prefer a chapter-based release schedule, as it leaves the fapper with a cliffhanger over a hard stop. This is one interesting enough of a story that I will always be willing to wait for a whole section with story and development, more than jump in every few weeks just to experience one fap.

So, this was a pleasant surprise on so many fronts.

The writing here is excellent. The dialogue is engaging, often humorous, frequently heart-touching. The characters are interesting and I'm absolutely invested in the various storylines and histories being depicted here.

The renders are good. Not great, but really good. I enjoy the variety of women in the game, and they're all really well-done. I think there could be some more subtlety in terms of lighting and contrast, but otherwise the developer is really putting in the effort.

I cannot wait to see where this story goes. Humor aside, RR has put together a really engrossing plot and each new detail introduced has me guessing at the future of the game.. I cannot recommend Rainy Day enough. Give it a shot, you won't regret it.
