Tried to play it years ago in Japanese, but dropped it after a few hours. The Rance series is all about gameplay, then story, then h-scenes, at least for me. And gameplay here I didn't like at all - it's at the same time too simple and hard in the wrong way, rather it's just inconvenient. The story itself is the same as the original Rance 3, from what I know (except with more characters), so not that impressive but to be honest I didn't complete the game so perhaps it's improved.

It's the only voiced Rance game, so that alone is good, and as an H-game it's probably on the better side.

giving this a 4 star just because of that chance meeting between Shizuka and Aizel. I can see why Alicesoft fans remained the fans that they are. devs just don't make scenes like that anymore. the remake voiceovers did huge justice on that scene too so there's that.

at the very least I do remember a couple scenes like that in rance 8 and 9 that are just as good. please do support devs like alicesoft because they really earned it.

This game's pretty good, I played it with MTL before and not the current english translation. The gameplay is a fairly improved version of 01 which gives it some life but honestly has worse progression than the original III, because of how it's designed off of 01's map exploration, you usually find yourself simply farming off the same characters and simply just waiting for VN/Story segments to take place as the gameplay doesn't do so much in terms of enjoyability due to its partially redundant nature. The characters and story are given more depth in the remake, making the world feel a little livelier compared to its 90's counterpart, for example Ithere didn't have any of the three gem apostles and literally just died after being flashed naked Shizuka through Rance (Which tbf, good sendoff before dying).

Edit: Turns out the apostles did make an appearance so apologies for that mistake, however do note that serves as a testament to their lacking presence in the original game.

Now regardless of what I have to say about the gameplay, the game boasts the best h-scenes the Rance series has to offer (Because of voice acting) and happens to make-do with its lacking gameplay through Rance himself, the story and the "story".

The only voiced Rance? Does any more really need to be said? Sign me up.

Beautiful art by Gyokai (wish Alicesoft retained them) w/ great scenes and great gameplay. I do wish Noah got more exposure in the franchise, she would be fantastic in much more...

Fantastic game. translation is well done H-scenes are plentiful and very well drawn. If you have ever played a game in the Rance series you know that most come for addicting game play, great characters, and awesome dialogue. 03 lacks none of those and even has a voice over this time which is pretty cool. Game has zero bugs and ran flawlessly which Is always appreciated. Overall ten out of ten game as always RANCE is gold standard for H games and 03 does not disappoint. Now time to wait 4 more years for Rance X to be edited and released!

    Rance with voice = peak!
This is the first Rance game that make Kanami do errands, and get herself into trouble! I still remember the stage where we walk through the fire!

But Rance 7 is still the GOAT!

Next up, Rance X - Kessen!
