Rant/question: Why are Daz shop's categories so bad, and how to better browse through assets?

I'm currently in the brainstorming part of a new VN, and there are a ton of different assets available for Genesis 8/8.1. I'm trying to just browse over a large number of different character assets to get ideas of what my characters could look like. It feels like there's no real good way to do it.

First, Daz store is otherwise pretty good in that you can see ~100 different asset thumbnails on one page to do quick overview. However, their filter system is garbage. When I choose only Genesis 8/8.1 females on , the website still shows me clothing items even though there are separate toggles for clothes.

Okay, I'm happy to also just use F95zone for my asset needs. However, the character asset tag is also not particularly useful. There's no way (that I have found) to filter by both tags and prefixes, which means the asset results are contaminated by stuff I'm not interested in (like VAM, and obviously also Genesis 2/3/9 that I don't care about). Further, the search only displays 50 pages which means I will only see a subset of all available assets. The main practical problem, however, is the layout. I need to open each of the 1000 results returned in a separate tag, and wait for all the posts and images to load just to see the capsule photo and determine if I'm interested at all or not.

I get that F95zone can't and has no real motivation to provide anything resembling the asset store. I'm more just curious how other people have gotten around this issue. One possible solution would be to display a thumbnail of the first image of each post/thread in the search results. This would already solve my main gripe with how cumbersome the search is to use.

For F95.

Go to the latest updates page and click "assets"

https://f95zone.to/sam/latest_alpha/#/cat=assets/page=1

From there, you can click on the "Prefix Assets" on the side, and check just Daz.

So now only Daz assets are shown.

To narrow it down more, you can use the "Tags" dropdown and filter via tags.

There are no G9/G8/G3 etc. tags, but you can simulate that by typing "G9" "G8.1" etc. in the search bar.

For previews, you can hover over the asset and it'll run the preview images for you.

Wow, this is great! It's more or less exactly what I was looking for. I can live with not being able to filter just with G8. Thanks again!

Thing to remember about assets on here, is that the standard format is that the title of the thread should be an exact copy of the asset's original title, from whatever "store" it's from (Daz Store, Renderocity, RenderHub, etc), so just doing a word search, using the search box in the upper right, while you are in the Asset Releases forum, will return some accurate results. This is a good alternate to the new Latest Update filters, especially for older assets.

Now, the trick to finding those names to search for, is to search the original stores or just use Google. So, for example, I want a nice red hair style for a G8 female, I'll do something like "Red hair for Genesis 8 Female" in Google, then look at the images tab and you can quickly scan through until you find one you like. Then you can visit the store to buy it or one of the pirate sites, like this to "try for free" :D

That being said... F95 has a pretty decent selection of pirated assets, especially for sex-related ones. Render State is huge and a good place to find something you can't here. One of the best things about here is it's not accessible by Google's bots, so the links stay up longer and the uploaders can usually refresh the ones that are pulled, pretty quick.

One thing I have noticed about F95, which is a bit of a critism, is their own search functions are sometimes very lacking. For my asset thing above, it works really well, but for the games on here, trying to find a certain game is often times very hard. Luckily, the game forums are open to Google, so using them to search for a game and just slapping F95 on the end, usually results in a pinpoint accurate hit right away.
