I'll start by saying that I gave Ravager 4 stars because of its potential but its fulfillment leaves a lot to be desired.
In my mind I expected this game to be "bastard game". Play a bastard and take what you want by ruthlessness, cunning and force. There are gazzilion Seduction games out there and not nearly enough "Bastard" or Ravishment games. And I hoped Ravager would be one.
The frustrating part that it does that. Sometimes. Sometimes it shows you what it can be but then stirs away for long long minutes of clicking "next" with blocks of text and too few images.
I admit I enjoyed playing the bastard. Giving a female prisoner to your minions to be gang raped was very cool (remember kids: this is a fantasy, yes?) and generally taking what you want by force is hot. However, these moments of fun were marred by long sessions of clicks driving the story forward.
The top issues which reduced my fun were:
- Flawed armies system. IMHO the current (4.0.3) armies system is severely flawed. Since you can only attack with one army, there is no real incentive for you to invest in the others. In fact by spreading your resources between the armies you are wasting them so why do I need more than one army? This is easy to fix IMO: allow the player attack with the combined strength of all your armies and allow one to lead so that army would get a bonus or something.
- Actions with no rewards. A good game rewards you for your actions and accomplishments. Currently in Ravager you may take a territory and... nothing. Yes, you army's morale may not be reduced or you may gain a future resource but that's that. No girls or victory image, nothing. Which brings me to the next problem:
-Battles are just blocks of text - An indie porn game developer is not expected to write Command and Conquer into his game. I get it. But the alternative chosen by the developer to give 5 minutes worth of clicking space and reading a description of a battle with very little reward (see my previous bullet).
- Waaaay too willful captives. So you are a big fucking dragon and you have 3 armies at your disposal and you capture hot babes, drag them to your lair and when you want to ravage one you discover that... she'll only allow you to titfuck her. Or blow you. This is annoying, to put it mildly. Yes, I understand that more sex scenes is more art but these useless captives are a really annoying aspect of the game. At the very least all captives should be fuckable. Like, real fuck, not "I'm saving myself for marriage so I can only blow you" fuck.
To summarize, what I enjoyed most about the game was its potential, and I hope it will fulfill it. As of version 4.0.3 it's not there but I intend to come back to it later to see if the developer managed to pull it off: an enjoyable game where you get to be a complete bastard.
